Have you been to an ISS/CIS job fair?
Have you been to an ISS/CIS job fair?
I posted this question earlier with no response. If you went to the CIS/ISS fair last year in Boston, did you have access to all of the schools attending or just those with the recruiting firm you registered with? I missed the deadline for ISS, but I am registered with CIS. Several of the ISS schools have expressed an interest in interviewing me at the fair in Seattle. Will that be possible?
attending fair-not invited
Hi. While I have never attended an International Schools Fair, from what I have read online if you have not been invited to the fair by the office hosting the fair (ISS, Search Associates, etc) you cannot participate. However, I have read from others that if you are available at that fair location and at that time you could make an appointment to meet the school recruiters at a different location in the hotel or city. This way you get to meet with them but are not part of the fair.
Best of luck and hope all works out for you! I too am on the International School job search!

Some schools are ISS schools, (i.e. either managed by ISS or with some contractual obligations to ISS) In a case like that, the school head might well be expected to only interview candidates who have registered with ISS and are attending the fair. Even then, we've found that school heads are often willing to interview you "on site" at the school, if you are willing to fly to the school at your own expense. In our case, we've been registered for ISS fairs but still preferred to fly to the schools for a "look see" and interview on site. After our job offers, ISS contacted us to know whether we were hired at the fair or outside the fair as it makes a difference as to whether the school pays a placement fee to hire you.
