Going to UNI and I have never been. I couldn't get into the Ramada as they are sold out. However I will be checking into some other area hotels, anyone have a good place to start as of now?
Once my application is complete I then have access to the database of jobs. From that point, is there a way to contact a school I have interest in?
On the first day is there the mass interview sign up that are at other fairs?
Thanks and see ya there.
Going to UNI
UNI Job Fair
The vacancy database contains lots of interesting information, including contact information. It doesn't hurt to write a coverletter and email your resume to the schools you are interested in. It might not help in all cases but it only takes one school to be interested in you. Different schools might have different requirements with regards to what you email them so read their info sheets and websites carefully.
As for the day, it begins with a candidates meeting where you will hear from the fair's organizers as well as a director or two and possibly some experienced overseas teachers. From there you will have a brief moment to get yourself together before the interview sign up session. Have your schools prioritized and head right for them. It will seem overwhelming at first but I have never had a shortage of interviews at interesting schools. Not to say that I wasn't disappointed by the extremely long line trying to sign up for Budapest but in the end it didn't matter.
When you get to see a director give them your resume and picture and then sell yourself in a minute or less. This is where preliminary research is helpful because you can address their needs with your skills.
Good luck

Great information. Thanks a ton. Having never been to a recruiting fair, when the doors open do people run to the tables to sign up for interviews? I hope there is some civility as that would really get me out of my comfort zone.
Also is it best to have a photo papercliped to your resume or have a photo on the resume itself in a corner or whatnot?
Thanks

Running might be too strong a term for what happens when the doors open but its close to that. Don't let it bother you, as long as you have a plan you'll be fine and there always seems to be enough interviews for everyone.
I've always had a pict stapled to the top of my resume but I don't think it matters. Whatever works best for you.

I'm looking to share a room at UNI. There is a school that has interviewed me and is close to offering me a job, so I have held off on getting a room or flight to the fair until I hear... they have now told me it will be until early January until they let me know!!! So now, all the affordable rooms at the Quality Inn and Ramada are gone! I still have a flight but if anyone is looking to share a room (either you have one or I'll get one of the remaining ones!), I am more than willing!
