I have read much negative press about Puxi elementary prior to the change in admin this year, and most seemed to prefer the Pudong campus to Puxi. Just wondering about Puxi high school and the current Puxi elementary situation. Considering life in Shanghai at SAS with elementary children. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Viewed from a distance but with many contacts on the inside, the Puxi ES has taken a turn for the much needed better. The admin team are apparently doing a great job of listening to teachers and that makes them much happier. After six years of admin hell it has been a much needed relief. The Puxi HS principal has received some bad press over the past year but again, from a distance, I have heard he has improved. Apparently he still pulls the occasional gaffe but not on the scale of last year.
There is some concern about upper level admin though as a recent search identified three superintendent candidates, one withdrew and then the board decided the other two weren't worthy. Not sure why all that time, energy and money was spent on people they weren't willing to hire in the end. On a positive note there were some great candidates brought in for the vacant assistant superintendent position. Hopefully they won't be strung along and the right choice will be available when they finally make a decision.
