what are my chances?

Post by alecsmario »

hello
I am a PE Teacher, from Romania (so not native speaker),professional referee (over 13 years of experience with more then 1000 games refereed) and football coach (soccer). i have a Bachelor Degree in PE (4 years), Bacalaureat Diploma and Teaching Certificate.
i have worked in the Romanian state system 1 year (ages 12-18), at an IS 1.5 years (ages 3-18) then moved for 6 months to Germany where i ended up in a scam school (age 7-14).
After 1 year in which i wasn't able to find a job, i finaly managed to get one teaching job back in Romania in a private school that runs after the Romanian state curriculum (age 4-12).
i am curently teaching in this school since september 2011..so 1.5 years here also...

i cannot attend any job fair due to financial reasons, but i am registered with SA...
i am single with no dependents (i am 28 years old)

What would my chances be in getting a job in SE Asia or ME or Europe...not Africa (due to the "legends" i've heard and read about so many times) and what can i do in order to improve my chances in getting that job...especially when...as i said.. ia am not native...and this seems to count more then my abilities and what i am able to do..

Many of the schools in Kuwait employ PE teachers from Hungary and Bulgaria, so as a Romanian I'm sure you could find work there. Other ME countries might be the same.

I met a PE teacher from South America who landed a job outside due to his ability to coach and his record. Get your references in order and get recruiting!

Schools in the ME (2nd tier) will be very interested in you. Your an above average candidate for that region. Asia not so much, native english fluency is a usually a deal breaker and gate keeper, your looking at third tier schools here mostly.
A WE schools isnt going to happen.

I am in Kuwait and I think that if not ALL our PE teachers are Romanian 95% are. You should look into Kuwait if you are interested. I can also say for sure some are NOT PE Certified they just got the jobs because friends recommended them.

Sorry they have disabled the PM function. Not sure I want my job info out there. Would I recommend my school NO. If you are single and without kids perhaps yes. Just look on the boards my job will attend fairs and just apply for those PE spots in Kuwait. Wish you the best of luck!
