Radio Silence

Post by twoteachers »

We had two what we thought were good interviews last week. We were told that they would be consulting with the Admin team and they'd get back to us....So far nothing....It's getting late in the season to be waffling....Are we 2nd choice and they're waiting to hear from their first choice? Should we send a "just checking in" email?

It's possible, even probable, that you're second choice. Or they are still interviewing others before making a call. Anything's possible. Go ahead, drop them that "just checking" note. It can't hurt, and a little reminder that you are interested could be a good thing.

I concur with @Sid, if they didnt give you a definite return date, and they are just leaving it open, they could very well be looking at other candidates or you could be their second or third or other safety option. The rule is when an IS wants you they act like they want you, if its been a week then yeah thats how long it can take to confer, even to weeks isnt unreasonable, but that still means they arent in a rush, and thats likely because they have options. The best source of information though is going to be the IS, email them for an update. It could hurt though, they could sense your impatience is just another complication and they will move on. The issue for you is how long are you willing to wait, and why are you waiting at all? You had some interviews and they said they would get back to you, when they get back to you, which means they owe you (and you owe them) nothing, its too late in the recruiting season to be waiting around for what isnt an offer, but is a followup. Your going to be feeling pretty stupid if in a couple weeks you get some form email saying they had a large pool of high quality applicants and the vacancy is no longer open.
