I dont disagree, go to a first tier BS and thats exactly the case, and a second tier BS will take an NQT, but then we have the really big third tier and theres a strata of that tier where yes there are ISs that are barely more if anything than an ES, and will take anyone with a pulse whos a NES and then above that somewhere theres a sub population that just wants QTS and doesnt care too much how you got to it and between those theres a group that just wants something whether its a degree, a PGCEi, or some other piece of paper that says youre more than a nose breather.

There are quite a few schools on Search (175 / 670) that say they will hire teachers without certification, many of them which are referred to as "Tier 1" on this forum. One must assume that they would equally accept an iPGCE or similar.

Thats advertising, and the portion of it that isnt, sure they can hire an IT without a credential but the better the IS the less likely they are to do that. I know a couple ITs that are at tier one BSs and only have a PGCEi, and in those cases they are part of an IT couple, or had tenure and the PGCEi was required and acceptable to maintain the appointment.
