How much money does a teacher need to live well? By well I mean can travel a couple of times a year (or not), save 15-20K.
A teacher at my school is unhappy and I know this school is looking.

Lot of variation in this answer, whats "living well" for one IT is mediocre to another. Total comp vs. discretionary coin? Family size? Financial obligations? Could be a lengthy list.
Id say $60K plus an OSH package. I could save $20K and travel at breaks on that.

teachers getting paid in the 10-15000 AED/month range can easily save and travel pretty much whenever there's an extended holiday. as PG says, there's a lot of variation. accomodation is paid for and usually utilities. not sure about the 20000 dollars for a single but, again, it depends on how you live. being in abu dhabi rather than dubai helps.
