My school gives you a pay bump for a MA/M.Ed regardless of its applicability to your position.

In the vast majority of ISs a masters is a masters for purpose of salary band. There are a few ISs however that require the advance degree to be related to your instructional field.

Our school gives a salary bump for a M.A. or M.Ed regardless of what subject it's in. If your GF wants to pursue admin, the M.Ed in Educational Leadership seems to be the way to go. The financial bump at our school for a Master's degree is not huge, but it's there.

Not heard of any schools specifically needing a Master's specifically related to your subject, but it would be no surprise at the some of the more penny-pinching ISs that proliferate the scene.

As for the bump...I've known to be from as little as a few hundred to a couple of thousand dollars each year.
