USA/EU passport holders in Europe

Post by Amnesiac »

How are EU passport holders treated in terms of taxation at international schools in Europe? If you're a dual citizen and use your EU passport to work at an international school in Europe do you not receive the same tax-free status benefits as other Americans? Anyone with experience know how that works?

I have the ability to get an EU passport and am trying to figure out if it would hurt me financially in Europe.

No you dont get to benefit from the tax free status, you get taxed just like everyone else working in the country.

The benefit of an EU passport is that there are a lot of mid tier and lower tier ISs that wont hire anyone who would need a work visa, etc, so the EU passport will get you interviews and plenty of offers to work in regions you simply wouldnt have access too, but youre an EU citizen, your going to pay taxes.
