Vientiane International School, Laos

Post by Nomadic Teacher »

Hi All,

I am interested in this school and have read the reviews online, however I am interested in hearing from anyone who is familiar with the school. How is the atmosphere? Work/life balance? Resources? Community involvement?

It is part of the The Mekong River International Schools Association (MRISA) and linked to UN which is very appealing to me.

Any thoughts would be great!

We were there a decade ago and it was a great place to live and teach with a youngish family. We taught in the old school building so I can't comment on their new facilities but if their community atmosphere still lives then that is a big plus. Vientiane has changed a great deal since we were there so I would hesitate to comment on that but I always liked the laid back nature and the fact we could bike out of town or down by the river easily, even with little kids.
