Please read the following article. For any teacher working in a country that has not yet established "rule of law' and has high levels of corruption, it could be us in this situation.

If after reading the article, you want to help, there is a link to a petition that you may want to sign. Thanks.

Very very scary stuff. Even the hint of an accusation can ruin someone's career. Just awful all around.

Yes, you are right.

Here is another petition one of the teacher's brother has started.

Please help a fellow international school teacher in need - and if you have any doubt that the charges are bogus, just do a little research, starting with the article I posted earlier. Or go to https://www.jisedu.or.id/press/index.aspx. Aside from some interesting videos (the one from July 24 absolutely skewers the case against these teachers), the school has posted links to a range of articles from international journalists. Or read this, written by reps of WordWorks: http://files.realspellers.org/letter_fo ... achers.pdf

Here is a link to the 2nd petition - it is now 2 weeks since the teachers were detained. They still have not been officially charged with any crime (just being detained for questioning)

The police in this case have extended the detention time for these teachers to up to 60 days. Today marks the 21st day these men have been detained without yet being charged, or told of the evidence against them.

If you want any more evidence that the case is bogus and the police are corrupt, consider this - the rapes allegedly took place in the teacher's glass walled office. This office is found in the administration area of the elementary school. Despite having the men in prison for 3 weeks, and being told of the allegations 2 months ago, the police are yet to interview anyone who works near the office where the crime allegedly took place. Not any of the other teachers, other parents, or the office staff.

Please help fellow international school teachers in need by signing the 2 petitions. Further information can be found in the other posts.

Thank you.

Is this a WASC school?

Yes - it is a WASC school.

The teachers have now been in prison since July 14. Charges are yet to be laid.

No teachers, office staff or parents who were near the alleged crime scene have yet been interviewed by the police. Extraordinary:(

Its a damn outrage but they would get any help from WASC.

I'm not sure what WASC can do.

The detention period is approaching 60 days.

And as yet, no official charges have been laid.

WASC can't do anything, you are right, they are useless.
WASC could revoke the accreditation of the school - which they won't do because in addition to being useless, WASC is corrupt. They just want whatever fees and "gifts" they are given during visits to the school.

WASC is a joke.

Why would WASC revoke the accreditation of JIS?? That would make no sense. JIS is standing by its' teachers and aggressively defending them because it's a quality school that believes in their teacher's innocence. Way to bring your pathological campaign against WASC into a thread that has NOTHING to do with WASC, Gladly!

Agreed with poster above. This is not about WASC at all and it just makes my previous thoughts about the WASC-hater more solidified.

EUExplorer Asks: "Why would WASC revoke the accreditation of JIS??"

Because JIS has done nothing to help this teacher.
More to the point, why would WASC be accrediting any school in a country where teachers can be jailed without charges?
Thats an easy one: WASC is in it for the money and the handful of WASC officials who get to take 1st class trips around the world are only in it for the money and for whatever swag they get out of the owners.

WASC could care less about teachers or education - they are a sham organization.

What's your evidence for this? That JIS hasn't used its WASC-issued jailhouse key to open the cells and release the teachers and cleaning staff?
Do some more research. JIS is actually quite actively supporting its staff.
The fact that JIS doesn't control the government and the police is hardly evidence that they're a bad school.
And frankly, your obsessions with WASC is rather off putting. And your misguided notions of what WASC is, does and ought to do.

Gladly Teach,

Your lack of understanding of the role of an accrediting body and the limited power they have is clearly showing. No one takes first class flights and all members of an accrediting team volunteer their time.

Your last response shows how much you have a wrongly placed vendetta against WASC when they would not do anything to help you when you lost your position at your last school (See WASC Attack).

I would encourage new members of the forum to read Gladly Teach's past postings, which you can do by clicking on the username, before giving his words too much weight
