Is this danger to me or the school, if no notice is required it means that either . can terminate with a days notice. Correct?

Many contracts don't have the notice period written right in them. Instead, it can be in the policy manual etc. Before signing, ask the school what the notice period is, and where it is written.
If it's not in the contract, it can be changed by the school. In a good school, that will only be done with appropriate notice, which in my opinion is before people sign the contract for the period in which the change will occur. But moving it by a small amount, a couple of days or a week, might require less notice.
