Patana question

Hello!

I am planning to apply for a position at Bangkok Patana school, but am slightly concerned by its location, some way outside Bangkok itself. I am also interested in finding out a bit more about the social scene amongst staff.

Basically, I love my current school in China but my main issues with it (and the reasons I'm looking to leave) are that it is full of staff with young families who have different priorities to me (i.e. rather than socialising in the evenings or weekends, they understandably spend time at home) and that it is located about 40 minutes from the city.

Would the move to Patana put me in a similar situation, albeit in Thailand? Or is getting into BK quite straightforward and/or are the staff demographics a bit more young/single-person friendly?

Would appreciate any comment on this. Thanks in advance.

Location is good in my opinion.

Close to a Skytrain station that gets you into town in 25 mins for just over £1. Close to a major highway for trips in minivans to provinces / beaches. IKEA, big shopping malls closeby. Local food market, restaurants etc.

It is out of town and the environment feels more spacious and less hectic than central BKK, but I consider that a plus.

Solid school. Go for it and good luck.

The location is fine. I would suggest getting an apartment in lower sukhumvit, near phrakanong. Travel to school in the morning will take about 20 min, using the skytrain and motosai taxi. And then on the weekends you will be close enough to the action that you don't feel like you're missing out. There aren't an abundance of decent apartments near the school, but getting there from mid to lower sukhumvit is easy, even during rush hour.
