Just out of curiousity, why did your husband pass up a beautiful offer? Sense of it not being a good fit? Wanting to wait and see what else was out there?

I also understand if you don't want to answer this question :-)

Its very uncommon for a school to "split" Ib training with a candidate. Some IB schools will require you get training on your own before you start the contract/report, but middle of a contract make you pay for your level 2 workshop. Thats just a school that has champaign wishes and a beer budget.
Unless you really want to be in Thailand, or dont ahve any better offers, i would pass. If you do an online workshop you can do it for about $600USD, so its a small amount. Another option is just to "not do" the level 2 workshop if they dont train you. What are they going to do terminate your contract, youll just take your IB experience and training to a better school.

The real issue however is that this is one small symptom of a far greater issue, and thats the schools lack of resources and financial instability. very likely your not going to get anything and anything you do get will be a huge headache.

Thats not true, a school is required to "train" its teachers/staff in IB methods and pedagogy. There is no requirement that they attend a specific "level" of workshop.
