GEMS Dubai

Post by MissMe »

Any idea as to the reputation that GEMS (or GEMS teachers) have with some of the Tier 1 schools in the UAE? Would working for GEMS eliminate the possibility of working for better schools in the UAE in the future? Just curious as a friend found herself in a bit of a rut trying to move into a Tier 1 to Tier 2 school in the same country, in spite of having spent a few years in Europe in between.

I worked there a few years back (DAA). Generally run well, professional, plenty of resources. Many of the people I worked with went off to much better jobs at Tier 1 schools in Asia and Europe. Based on that, I think it won't hurt your future job opportunities. Keep in mind though, it is a very corporate structure and some didn't like that element and left after their 2 yr contract was up.
