Canadian Offshore Schools - any suggestions?

Post by CDNTEACH »

I am exploring the offshore Canadian schools and wondering if there were any with a great reputation (solid school/good package/supportive team..etc)...I am new to the scene with limited experience overseas so I would love any feedback on Canadian schools aboard?

Thanks!

The only 3 I know of with decent reps is in Kobe, Singapore and Trinidad. However the pay packages are very avg for their location. However, good spots if you are early in your career.

There are lots of Canadian School. Although not as plentiful as American or British, quality still abounds. Canadian School of Hong Kong is quite a nice school and CIS Beijing wouldn't be a bad place to start.

To be honest though, the top 3 or 4 Canadian schools are actually very competitive to get into since so many Canadian teachers look to go there as a first option for IS teaching.

Broadening your scope to include non Canadian schools of the same tier may find you more success.

Ohh.. also see this for a comprehensive list http://www.international.gc.ca/educatio ... spx?view=d

Thanks for the info and keep it coming!

I have looked to the American/British Schools but was thinking Canadian would be an easier transition to build the resume.....

You could try Maple Leaf Schools in China. A couple of my classmates from my B.Ed program taught there. I met another person who taught there for a bit and then landed an IB international school position in another part of China.
