Safest cities in South America

My husband and I are both teachers and have a 5 year old daughter. We are looking at several different schools in South America... Which large cities are safe to live and teach in?

safer cities are in Chilie, Argentina, Paraguay, Peru, Equador

more dangerous-Venezuela, Colombia some parts of Brazil

Theer really isnt such a thing as "safe" in S/C America, just varying degrees of safer to compared to other areas within the region (while thats true in general of anywhere, its not like anywhere in S/C America is comparable to Singapore).
