Getting your own insurance

Post by Lagringa »

Can anyone recommend an insurance company where you can pay for your own policy if you feel the need to supplement what your employer does (or does not) provide? Obviously looking for someone who could cover you while living overseas and to include maternity as well. Thanks for any leads!

Take a look at these two:

Fortunately my school's clinic and insurance took care of things so I never really needed the ex-pat policies.

www.clements.com

Their policies are good and their premiums are pretty low. I never had to file a claim with them so I don't know how they are to to deal with. Read the fine print with the maternity policy. I think you have to be covered by them for 10 months+ before maternity kicks in (check for yourself as my memory is a bit fuzzy on this).

I like Travelers insurance and while the policy is top rate the premiums can be pricy.
