@marieh

Sure, Swiss boarding schools run multiple sessions of the same course/form, you may have to combine subjects though.

Agree, two STEM ITs are going to be at a disadvantage.

@STEMteacher

Rating the top 3 ISs in Beijing would be prohibited in the public forum.

Yes various states have TA (Assistant/Aid certificates, they arent to hard to qualify for).

@wntriscoming

You could clear 6 figure coin in the ME, and have less temptation, along with a full OSH package. Why settle for China coin, if your sole priority is the coin.

@WT123

II would also add GZ to the list of BJ and SH.

@runningsloth

I wouldnt agree, you may have a high percentage of salary with the potential to save it but its still only a modest salary

@jimmycajun

I would agree it would be hard to spend much outside of Almaty, but you can still save more and have a higher salary in the ME with desert coin.

Thanks for the advice. Do you know where to look for online Teaching Assistant Certification? I have been googling the heck out of and only find 2 year degree options and we are leaving in a year.

if she already has a degree, she can do Teach Now out of Washington DC, gets you certified in a year. Their praxis tests can be taken worldwide.

There arent really any Teacher Assistant online training programs that award a certificate of any meaningful type. There arent many F2F programs either. Most of them are institution programs that combine some degree of coursework to meet local authority guidelines. Many regional authorities delegate credentialing to the local authority (school district), you most be employed by the local authority to be eligible for a credential.

CA offers child development permits directly. This is one of the easiest credentials to qualify for requiring only 6 course credits of academic preparation. Its a 5 year permit and is renewable.

NY offers a paraprofessional certificate. The level 1 certificate requires three workshops and a licensing exam. . The exam is available online at Pearson test centers globally. The workshops can also be completed online through various providers. The Level 3 certificate requires 18 course credits.

The CA program is more appropriate if you already have the appropriate coursework or would prefer to do a couple courses online though a college or UNI (you could obtain the 6 hours through an online community college at a very inexpensive cost), the CA program disadvantage is focused on EC and primary.
The NY program is more appropriate if you dont have coursework and want a more efficient online route. Its disadvantage is that it would be very difficult to maintain.

Another option within the IB (Teaching Assistants are called Learning Consultant Specialists) is to take an appropriate workshop and use that certificate. These are available F2F and online. The disadvantage is that the workshop certificate would be of more limited value.

STEMteacher,

having your wife go as a teaching assistant it one way. However, if she already has a degree, going as a primary teacher will be more remunerative and give you both a better foundation in the long run for savings.

Thanks for the advice but it's complicated. She finished a two-year course work in hotel management but is still lacking the 6 month "internship" where she works for free folding sheets at a hotel. It's ridiculas.

@SJ

A two year program isnt going to meet the bachelors requirement for professional educator certification.

It would be better remuneration, but also comes with more responsibility and a time commitment. TAs just need to show up and pickup their coin. They arent responsible for lessons, planing, marking, and all the other tasking involved in being the IT. If your a dependent spouse youve already got housing and insurance, and maybe even airfare, there isnt any realized value in having the OSH package. Yes its more money, but its also more work.
