Aren't We Lucky?
Aren't We Lucky?
As an international educator, I think we are some of the most lucky people around. Look at all of the places around the world where we could work/visit. What schools/areas kind of make you dream sometimes?
My list (in no particular order) are:
Georgia (the country not state)
South Korea
Thailand
Hong Kong
Mongolia
Vietnam
Switzerland
Peru
Mexico
Colombia
Senegal
I know they are a weird mix, but someday I want to work in at least some of these places. Anyone want to post their "dreams"? I would honestly be happy if I worked at 4 or 5 of these before I die - any 4 or 5.

Contracts
Kinda, sorta. Brazil, Taiwan, and Hong Kong were during my "summe" job. If you followed the posts I've also worked in mainland china (which isn't on my list). I tend to get drawn to maternity leave positions, I like to see a place and then move on. Not all of them, I left Italy, and Japan over heart break. My life was spinning way out of control in Thailand. Singapore just, well you can only go to the beach and live at a mall so long. China was just time to move on after two years.

If I had to list a few places:
Colombia
Thailand
Argentina
Malaysia
However, it looks like I'll be paying my dues and getting my hard knocks in Egypt for my first proper contract. It could be worse, it could be a lot better. While I'm there I'll get my Masters so I can qualify for these dream positions.
Gotta start somewhere I guess. At least I'll get to visit Europe finally!

Having taught in France for a number of years, I fell in love in Europe and have regretted leaving ever since. Hence, my dream list is Europe-heavy:
Denmark (PsyGuy- how do I get a job here?!!)
Iceland (there's no international school here, though, as far as I know...)
the Netherlands
Slovenia
Croatia
Montenegro
Belgium
Czech Rep.
Estonia
Latvia
Norway
Panama
Mexico (not Mexico City, though)
Cuba
Nicaragua
Ireland
Curaçao

@Eric
Its next to impossible, not as hard as switzerland but not easy. I only got mine because my principal in Italy made some phone calls. At the time it was transfer to a sister school in France in a teaching position I wasnt crazy about or a junior admin position here in Denmark.

Vietnam, Laos and Indonesia are high on the list, but at 45 I think my ideal route to retirement would Thailand, starting next year or the year after. Do that for three or four year and then Malaysia, preferably Penang, but also KL. I'd stay in Malaysia and retire there.
I've already covered China (as a student), Japan and Taiwan (ESL), Canada (as a business owner and teacher) and Egypt (currently).
