Some countries require tests before you get your visa. Really they are mainly looking for AIDS or tuberculosis. If these are found then the visa is denied.

With regards to other medical conditions it probably wouldn't stop you from getting the job, just a matter of working out if your school insurance would cover your medical costs.

I had a friend who worked there and have seen the campus. It is a bit out of the way and some find life a bit boring after a while especially singles.

Singles get a small apartment on campus. Most ride bikes and also rent a room or apartment with someone else in town so they can stay off campus on weekends.

We interviewed with them before.

They really could not tell us for certain where in China we would end up. It seems the schools are Chinese school which have a small section run by Dipont. We thought we could end up feeling pretty isolated if we were out in the sticks with no other foreigners plus not speaking the language.

We were put off by the fact that one of the interviewers started blaming the teachers at the school for not being flexible enough. We had asked about facilities and it seems like in some schools teachers had to move around quite a bit and were not happy.

I think if we hadn't had any experience we would have gone for it though and it probably would have been okay. The money is good and China is cheap. However it is expensive to fly out of the country as it is so big but you should be able to save.

Thanks, found out that they pay one foriegn hire salary and then one local salary for a couple which we didn't like the sound of.

We would have liked to be in BA as we like South America but we have since gotten jobs so we're happy.

I had an interview with them and this is what I learnt.

They work with local Chinese schools and sort of take over a part of the school building and set it up for A'level. There are only a few teachers at each school who will be in a similar situation to what you would be in. I don't know how support for staff works, communications with the Chinese staff etc.

You could get sent to any area in China. It depends on where they need the staff. It is on a first come first served basis. However I have heard that your location can change just before you get there. The money seems good and I am pretty sure you can save quite a bit on the salary.

There were lots of jobs for me to apply for at this fair which is not usually the case. I went to the fair with 7 others and we all got at least one job offer. One couple got the offer yesterday.

At the Bangkok fair now, had a wave of panic wash over me when I saw all the people rushing around in the candidates' lounge this morning. The sign-up session is tomorrow so will see what happens.

My dream job at ISM was gone when the poster went up this morning. Took a few minutes to get over that but there are lots of jobs going at the moment so still in high spirits!

Most people don't have interviews on the last day of the fair but a school could ask you for a second interview then, so it is good to have the time available if you need it.

The Sydney fair is small and I don't think too many jobs will get filled there. However your dream jobs may just go at the Bangkok fair. Recruiters at Bangkok will only hire teachers who are a very good fit. They have lots of fairs still to come so there is no need to be hasty. The recruiters want to make sure they get all the travel perks they can get so I don't think any school fills all their vacancies at Bangkok. (Unless that is their only fair.)

Of course schools which are 2nd/3rd tier or in less popular places will be seriously trying to fill their vacancies.
