I wouldn't actually use that as bargaining power for negotiating a higher salary. It's good to knowledge to have, though.

Do the Salary Expectations on Search reflect a solid offer or do they reflect the highest salary bracket for a teacher at a school for a number of years? Do you think I should plan on negotiating with a school to meet the quoted salary expectation? I know that's a difficult question to answer since each situation is so different.

I'm trying to get a clear picture of what cost of living is in Qingdao and I would also like to get perspective on how the health care system works in China. I'm hoping someone who currently lives there can respond with budget info. We are a family of four, so I'm hoping to hear from teachers with kids, but all info is helpful.

Is the IB certificate an actual teaching credential or would one need to hold an additional teaching certification to qualify as a certified teacher?

Yes, I'd love to hear about this as well. Does it seem worthwhile to pursue a masters degree (if you dont already have one) with IB focus? Some of the online programs are a masters with an IB emphasis/certification.

Did anyone interview with or accept a job from ISHCMC at UNI or Cambridge? I'm curious to hear what your impressions were. I know all of the background on this school from ISR, etc. With such a long list of open positions, I'm wondering what the people think who accepted jobs from them at UNI or Cambridge or considered doing so. Does EPF- 11% of monthly salary- factor into the % tax rate paid on income? For example, Search Associates quotes around 15% tax on income.

Where do your friend's children go to school? Is s/he happy with their learning and social experience?

housing in Mont'Kiara per month (3 or 4 bdrms)
food per month
utilities (Is $50/month for internet accurate?!)
airfare to US and to other parts of SE Asia (ex. Bangkok)

Any idea of what kind of $ tutoring could bring per hour in KL or Mont'Kiara?
