Well I heard from a couple of schools that will like to meet at the fair. I am also concerned about this as well and have been very successful in the states with counseling. I think the issue might be my race, I think international schools look at race more than anything.

I have a proven track record in the United States and hope that schools will look at that

Contact from school

I have received emails from several schools that have expressed interest in me and would like to meet at the fair. My only concern is the schools that have contacted me via Search have stated on their profile that they prefer not to hire singles with a dependent. Should I even waste my time catering to meeting these schools even though they contacted me and not vice versa?

Reading this post makes me feel a whole lot better than before. I haven't really heard much myself except an automatic email; I was always under the impression that a school counselor is in demand. Well I can't wait until Cambridge to land a job than.

Thank you Dcgirl most of the schools that I expressed interest in... have not really said much. I guess it is still a little early in the year.

I am just getting nervous when I hear others have been offered a job already. I do not want to miss my opporunity by not looking at all my options.

Thanks again DCgirl you have been really helpful

UNI FAIR a week before Cambridge

HELLO ISR:

I will be attending my first international job fair this Feb. I have everything ready to attend the Cambridge fair on the 7th. However I am a little nervous about the UNI fair being a week before Cambridge. I noticed that a vast majority of the schools I am looking at will be in attendance at UNI as well.

My question is will most of the jobs evaporate before Cambridge? Will the directors be in attendance at UNI and not a Cambridge? I have my heart set on a counselor position and do not want to miss this opporunity.

From previous post about Cambridge 2012 director were not as present as they were for UNI.

Any comments are greatly appreciated from seasoned Job Fair teachers

Lincoln Community School Ghana/ American International Lagos

Hello ISR:

I was wondering if anyone has knowledge about Lincoln Community School Ghana or American International School Lagos? How is the work environment and lifestlye.

Also do they hire single with one dependents?

Do they do most of their hiring at the job fair?

Any information about these two schools will be greatly appreciated

Job Fair

Hello

I am attending the Cambridge fair in 2013 and have a couple of questions in order to prepare me for it .

1. Is there any nearby hotel that are cheaper than Hyatt?
2. Do people really need to stay Thur -Sun ( what is the avg )
3. What can I do to stand out at the fair ( counselor position)

I guess I am trying to be cost efficient and save as much money I can. If on average people find jobs within two days. I would like come back home early.

Yea you all will be happy to know that I have an invite to attend the Cambridge Fair. I feel so much better and I am planning on landing a counseling job.

Do you have any idea how to make my resume/portifilo stand out? Example: An art teacher can make a mag to showcase student work. What is something I can do to make me stand out.

Thank you in advance for advice

Well my status has finally been moved to Active on Search. However I am on the waiting list for Cambridge. I truly feel like I'm on the waiting list because of my dependent and other reason. I have informed my associate that I will be more marketable at Cambridge. Thanks for all the positive feedback so far .

She explained to me that I am missing a supervisor reference, that I had parent and co-workers but lacking enough supervisor. So i was able to slove that.
I might have to take a second look at Asia. I have always felt that as a African-American they look down on the race and I was trying to avoid that. But if they are open-minded I will be more than happy to see what wil come out of it.

Well she said that I need one more supervisor reference... So I will see what I can do about that and hopefully get in. Also, I do not really want to go to Aisa I would like to get my first international job somewhere else.
So where do all the tier 1 school attend for job fair.
Thanks again for all the feedback
