Do NOT ship anything you may need to start school with. You will get nothing until your Emirates ID gets through. I didn't get mine until October. They are very strict about what you can get and not get until your residency card comes through. I had no problems with what got shipped though. I used Asian Tigers.

Again...you find all you need in the UAE...you will pay every bit of it out of your pocket because they have such outdated views of mental health here...the insurance companies are not required to cover it.

I've been holding out applying to admin jobs because I keep thinking I have no chance yet, but I'm seeing friends of mine get jobs with no experience at all and I have at least some and the leadership degree.....am I being too wimpy? All the postings say don't bother applying unless you have this type of experience...should I just go for it anyway?

Interesting picture painted....Now if IB/EU postings are what you are interested in...and you indicate London as the fair to go to...what of the late postings in EU? Would you still see them due to the labor laws? Where are those usually posted and do they still exist? Strictly school websites? I've never been on Search in the Spring since I've usually found employment by January.

Did anyone go to the Search Fair in Dubai this past weekend? How was it? What were your thoughts? Were all the schools from the ME?

Is recruitment of HOD/Learning Coaches/Asst. Principals the same time of year as leadership positions? I noticed this year that Search had a Leadership fair in Bangkok in November.

I am currently in UAE and just got our first rejection letters from the insurance company for my son's ADHD meds and my Lexapro meds. We know we can'r stay past our two year contract. The costs are outrageous.

Good Point...which is why I started this thread in the first place...I'm looking for actual recs in the UAE for temporary insurance...all the companies I've tried so far won't let me enroll since I'm American....

Even when I was in the US I could only refill it 30 days at a time...very strict protocols....my doctor here will help me out I think though...

Both my son and I are on regular meds and would be better off getting some kind of plan...I'll start with the hospital and the embassy....

My new HR person just recommended my family get travel insurance for the start of term because the insurance at work won't kick in until our visas are ready and she sees that as taking up to 10 weeks..I'm a US citizen and just initial research is even denying me a quote if I am a US citizen. I even ticked the box saying it's for overseas....

There is no way to have what you're looking for at a 2nd tier school in Malaysia...they don't pay enough....The idea of living in Putrajaya and commuting to KL would be a commuting nightmare...traffic here is bad and the mass transit is built to accommodate the local population not ex-pats.
