I have read the reviews. Doesn't sound too good. Anyone with information?

We contacted the airline before we left last time and they had a different fee for extra suitcases when you prepaid online. You paid nearly twice as much if you just turned up with the suitcases on the day. Seems like a lot of airlines have this policy so check beforehand.

We had intended to ship but took our stuff with us instead as there wasn't that much savings when shipping and our things were with us from the start.

I have never been drug tested by a school but I know a friend in Germany said it is done there.

I know it is fairly new. Why are you comparing it to WAB though?

I don't want to work in a school like WAB at all so it not being like WAB is great. However I just wanted to know if it is an okay place to work at. Do they pay on time, are things fairly organised? Are teachers happy?

Thanks Psyguy.

One school I was at gave $3000 to a couple for settling in allowance and around $2000 for baggage/shipping whether you actually used it or not.

They put all new staff in the Hilton for 2 weeks. We ended up staying for 3 as we couldn't move into our new place. We presumed we would have to pay for the extra week but the school did. We were also given a daily food allowance for our stay at the hotel which we went over as we ate in the hotel all the time and the school just paid everything. We rented a furnished apartment so didn't spend much at all in the beginning.

Another school put us straight in an apartment which was barely furnished but we had shipping and settling in allowance. We were also given a car loan which you could have whether you got a car or not.

Many schools will give you an interest free loan if you are really desperate.

Bangkok Patana and Harrow Bangkok

I am trying to find recent information on these schools. I have gathered that Patana is the better of the 2.

Is the workload less at Harrow or is it just not as well run? Does anyone know about the salary and benefits there?

Thanks for any help.

Why would you live paycheck to paycheck? Colombia is cheap and the pay at the school is good. Has it gotten very expensive?

Do you think this is so even for couples?

I am also looking at this school now.

I know you weren't talking about Colombia. However it is interesting to know that Honduras has dead bodies in the street, whilst Colombia which has the 'worst rep' of the two doesn't. I just didn't expect that.

I haven't been on for a few days.

When I say I am not interested in top tier schools, I am referring to the likes of JIS, ISB, WAB etc. I know it is subjective just mentioning tiers but I wasn't trying to debate which schools should be put into which category.

I just want to find a school where you are not expected to stay after school most days to run a club, coach etc. I don't want a school where you spend most of your time marking or planning, where you have very little free time.

I would of course like a school where you get paid on time, where you have some technology, doesn't have to be Macs or 1-to-1 program. Some place where it is okay to sometimes go home straight after lessons have ended, where the kids are pleasant enough though not necessarily the most motivated, they don't have to be international, where I can save some money even if it isn't loads. Get the picture?

Thanks for your comments.
