Yes Cheery, the resentment isn't real. It is that inner fear of making a wrong choice, or of having no choice at all permeates the fabric of your inner soul in November. Some of us are trying to climb up the ladder and so we are really taking chances vs. some people who are really just shifting from one nice place to another. Trying to catch that break and get into ISM or JIS or ISB etc.etc.etc. is tricky business. It is like trying to find the wizard, some people get right in, some fight in the trenches. I am in that spot, and although I firmly believe I have amassed the right resume to break through someones proverbial glass ceiling, the November time suck is horrible. Thankfully IBDP train never stops so I stay BUSY!

If you are employable at a job fair, you can get in. There are no guarantees, but a great resume, and sparkling credentials mean you will get a job and somebody will get a comission. People always drop out! Spots open. Contact your rep, even if you havent paid yet, they respond.

Good luck.

I think of in terms of suck. There are 2 times that "suck".

1. November. You decided a long while back this was your last year, so you pay your money, book tickets, get hotels reserved, gather up all of your references, etc. A huge amount of energy has been spent. Nothing, crickets, so quiet you feel the air sucking in and out of your lungs. Oh my, I hate to wait on other people! Yes I am that guy who always has his grades done first. The November suck can end at any time, or draw out until you hit the floor at the fair. We are all suffering this particular time suck right about now. It the kind of pain that no matter how much you want to be happy for those whippersnappers who just got a job, you aren't really. They aren't your drinking buddies, so their pleasure brings you misery. You can tell them congrats after you sign your contract... (Sorry cheery, but you know the score ; )

2. The spring. The outlay for shipping, the tickets for the summer bought, selling all your aquired junk, seeing some people for the last time ever. Uggg, just get it over with!!! let it be July,August... let me into my new house, my new job, my new life, start already...

Time, it sucks the life out of you. Best to just sit back, watch it unfold, and don't worry, it always works out somehow. It better!!!

I asked a friend today about the school, and his eyes almosted popped out of his head. Dream school was his reply, you would be an idiot to not take a job there was his second statement. We are both job-searching and powwow several times a week sharing insights, connections, gossip, etc. His statement, knowing he has worked in a top school in Korea is gold since there are no reviews and not much info on the school out there.

I thought that psyguy was just like that drunk know it all guy at the local bar, so when I go look up Chadwick, I find out I was right. Here is a guy who defends a position no matter if it is to make himself seem buffoonish.

Thanks for the information about the school everyone else.

My school gives 1/2 if you do not return to point of origin. Want to go to another country, fine half, want to stay in country and explore, fine half. That settles most disputes. Also half requires no receipts, full fare requires you prove you went to home of record.

International College Hong Kong

Nothing on ISR. Anything out there? A search brought 563 results (which leads me to conclude the search feature is not very good).

thank you!

Issues with ISS

I have had no problems in the past dealing with recruiters and recruiting firms. I am active in Search, and because my vacation puts me right there for the ISS Bangkok fair I thought, no problem, 195 dollars. Very doable.

My first international posting was for 1 year. After activating my account they put me on "hold". They are now asking me to contact the school, and get them to send an email to ISS.

What kind of Mickey Mouse operation is this? I worked for 6 months as a recruiter before I went overseas, and I know you must follow up! The key word is "YOU". If they want to know that I had a one year contract do the following.
1. Ask me!
2. Ask for proof!
3. Call the school!

The school is in China, none of my contacts work anymore, the website has a link for English which does not work. I am at a loss. It was 6 years ago.

I sent a picture of the contract. They say they have a policy (obviously not on their website) of checking any school which was only worked at for 1 year. I have no problem with that, I only wish they would do their work themselves. Anyone else deal with this type of stuff from ISS?

Believe me you will definitely find a job! What job is another matter. Be very weary of what is offered, and do your homework on the school! Just because it is called tier 3 on this site does not mean anything when you are working there everyday! It might be great for you! You can make GREAT money at some small schools in China right now! The salary in the ME can be nice also. Join one of the search sites (TIE and joyjobs are cheap). Or buck up and go to a search fair. At the very least have no fear you will find something! Be patient it is November!!!

I am sure most people do not have access to the information required to answer your query. If you are looking for British schools, you can contact them directly or through a job service such as Search Associates, ISS, Tieonline, joyjobs COIS etc. they may hold an f2f interview with you over that time. Many schools however only do skype or f2f interviews at the jobfairs.

Good luck.

Low for me is 31k for 8+ma

That is what Search list.

It doesn't rule the school out, as Laos seems interesting, and the director really seems to have a good vision for the school.

Never worked there.

Director seems really good, met him in Bangkok at the fair.

Salary seems a bit low.

They are growing, thus lots of jobs.
