Re: ISM Manila BKK Interview is it possible?
I've interviewed with them twice and got offered both times at the Search fair in Bangkok (but I declined). I remember that I think I had contacted them before the fair and believe I just approached them at the interview sign-up (was awhile ago so forget). Good school and it is a good location for diving.

Re: Family Friendly
So many to list...a few that come to mind:
Singapore-probably number 1 for families/kids. So much to do and extremely safe
Bangkok-great schools, lifestyle and tons to do for kids
Europe-too many countries to list here: Germany, Netherlands, Switzerland
South Africa-very family oriented and most restaurants have play areas. Great place to raise a family

Re: Master List of Tier 1 Schools?
^^Agreed except I would add UWCSEA there and probably bump ISM down to #11

Wouldn't worry about it too much. I have done it before too and still got an interview at the job fair. I wouldn't point it out with another email though. Hopefully the school will understand mistakes happen and if they don't, do you really want to be there? I've seen plenty of typos and errors sent out by Admin in various forms over the years.

It's a typo. An average teacher makes around 4500-5500 a month (before taxes), you are taxed at a rate around 22-27% but the school does give you a tax allowance (around 10% I believe). Rents have been rising and generally around 1000-1500/month.
You also get the nice 17% contribution for retirement by the school which is in a fund and given to you in cash after you leave.
KL is rather expensive to live (not Singapore prices but still quite high), especially alcohol. Food is moderately priced.
You pretty much need a car if you live there so factor that into savings.

Re: Jacket Junket
When I recruit in Bangkok, I never wear a jacket and wouldn't expect a candidate to do so either. A shirt and tie should be fine. It's the tropics. It's 95F outside. What do you do with your jacket when you want to go for a breath of (hot) air outside?
If I'm in London or Boston recruiting, I always wear a jacket - but then again it's usually 35F outside.
My thoughts exactly.
I second newchapter...could anyone post a list of reputable, well established schools in South America?
Here's a quick list:
Escuela Campo Alegre
Graded
Nido Aguilas-Chile
Lincoln School
CFDR (Lima)
Colegio Nueva Granada
Those would be my top list. Might be 1 or 2 I am missing.
I would also add in no particular order
HKIS
Canadian Int Sch of HK
Chinese Int Sch HK
And I think the British School in Manila is a fine school, with a good package, and in a great location (for being in Manila).
There is also a pretty good school in Yangon, but I can't remember the exact name.
I would agree with putting HKIS, Canadian Int School of HK in the top 10 if you consider HK part of SE Asia. But if you do, then you have to start looking at other schools in S.China and Taipei.

Ah, back to this old debate.
For SE Asia, my rankings (based on savings potential, school quality, package and lifestyle) would be:
1. ISB
2. NIST
3. SAS
4. ISKL
5. UWSEA
6. JIS
7. UNIS
8. ISM
9. Patana
10. HCMIS
Not sure why the British School of Manila/British School Jakarta/Tanglin are even mentioned. They would be WAY down my list.

Do you have full-time teaching experience? If not, I would say no as it is quite competitive and most candidates are experienced international teachers. Most schools will probably not take a chance on candidates this early in the recruiting season. Better off attending a later job fair or maybe the one in HK.
Saying that, both Chemistry and Math are difficult positions to fill so you might get lucky.

Countries that come to mind:
Japan, Tanzania, Chile, Argentina, Brazil, S. Africa possibly.
Hard to get as clean air as you get in Europe or N.America though. I assume you are single but what about Prague or eastern Europe (Romania, Poland). Most countries that pay a lot, come at a cost (pollution, crime, etc)
