Koda,
I am single and had an interview set up in San Diego for last spring, but received another good job offer and canceled the interview. The president/owner emailed me and said he was disappointed and that I was "the kind of person they liked to have working for the organization". So, it appears that they do hire singles. I was told they generally hire singles for certain schools, but prefer couples for others. They were considering me for the school in Shekou. Good luck!

While your points are somewhat valid, I believe that you are missing the point of this website. The website is here to provide important information to prospective teachers so that they do not find themselves in surprisingly bad situations that are nothing like what they were promised in their job interviews.

I am currently in Russia enjoying my first international teaching experience. I started my job search in October by emailing my cover letter, CV, and references to principals of various schools. I secured six Skype interviews from this alone. That being said, I joined Search in the middle of the process to ensure that I obtained a job. My Search associate was friendly enough, but I am not sure what he did for me. I ended up getting three job offers from the schools I found on my own. When I shared this info with Search, my associate said he was "pitching me" to a school in the Philippines. So, who knows?

Hello,
I put together a packet that included my CV, a cover letter (which I changed for each school), and two reference letters and emailed it to the email address provided on the school website. I was able to get four Skype interviews at good schools and had two job offers, one of which I took. Some schools are particular about what they want sent, but usually they have this information posted on their website.
Good luck!

Search Associates
I recently came across a post on here where someone was praising their associate from Search who helped get them a last minute job. I am curious what help these associates provide. I recently joined Search and am represented by a friendly associate. My question is this: What does he do to help me secure a position? What role does he play?
Thanks for the info!

I was hoping to secure a job via Skype. I landed a second interview with a good school but was told they would still be going to job fairs, although I remained a "top candidate". Unfortunately, someone at the job fair was selected for the position. i I interviewed with one other school and am waiting for them to wrap up with job fairs as well. If I am unable to obtain a position this year I will definitely be attending a job fair next year.

QSI School - Shekou
I am being considered for a position with this school. I have read past posts about QSI as well as the school in Shekou. One of my biggest concerns is that I am single and there seems to be a possible difference in the benefits/treatment of singles over teaching couples. Can anyone speak to whether singles have to share housing? Also, since QSI's salaries do not fluctuate based on the location of the school, I am curious if it possible to save much in Shenzhen. Any info would be helpful for this newbie.
Thanks!
