I was hired by a school in Colombia as a part of a unmarried couple.

We didn't know until we got there that they have common law marriage. If you have lived together for 2 years or more, legally you are married. If the couple splits up, they each are entitled to half of the estate. As far as the school was concerned we were married.

I don't know if this is true in other Latin American countries.

I guess that could sort of work for some places, except that in many places, like Saigon, many schools have American in the name and they are pretty bad.

And the US school which was good at the time didn't have American in the name.

Any names of places? I was told Brent in the Philippines fits the bill except I don't see any jobs advertised at the moment.

Second Tier Schools

So I am ready to move on but unlike before, I now want to find a '2nd tier' school. Okay yes I know the tiers are subjective, but you get what I mean. I don't want to be in a school where I spend all my time working.

So what do I look for in the reviews, "This school could be better if they were more organized'?

This is more difficult than I thought. Any suggestions of good 2nd tier school?

I am not looking for a high salary but some savings would be nice.

Are you serious? I lived in Colombia and I never saw dead bodies lying around.
But as long as they aren't on the beach I guess its okay.

My friends seem to like it but it might depend on which section you are in.

What do you mean 'lots of bodies lying around'? Dead bodies? Lots of people on the beach?

You didn't take a job at ISB because of the dress code? I wouldn't go there because you have to work too hard and I now know that is not for me.

ISB is one of the few schools that pays well enough and are professional enough for them to demand that sort of dress code. I am not surprised that they do.

Thanks for the information but can't do that as we can't pm and I don't want to give my email on an open site.

However if I actually apply, I will get back to you. I am not sure about the school yet.

I am used to being started at, as long as there is no hostility I am okay with that.
