Bellarex,
Yes, Singapore is that expensive particularly in housing.
As you pursue this opening, you want to better understand the housing benefit. Most schools in Singapore provide a housing allowance that may or may not cover the cost of rental let alone utilities. The GEMS school may not provide additional housing allowance for children which would factor into your ability to save.
Other things to consider is whether the school covers all of the children's tuition or only partial, whether the school covers all of the insurance premium or not, and there are the Singapore taxes to consider. These all potentially can reduce the potential savings even though a teaching couple could make 140K.
I'd have to agree Singapore is a but pricey. However I would certainly live there! It has all comforts of home and public transportation is a no brainier.
If jobs at ISS fit you, GO!!!
Sending resumes at this time will probably not do much for you. After The main fairs are over, then schools go back and fill in using other techniques.
Do yourself a favor, increase your chances and opportunities, go to the fair. Worst case, you don't get a job, but make contacts, or even open a door for a late season opening.
Plans have changed I can not attend the fair. And no responses to emails since we are in the middle of the holidays.
Chin up, PsychBean!
I have always found that things worked out the way they should, even when I first thought they didn't.
To partially quote West Side Story, "There's a Place for You" - it will all come together.
Sending you, and all ISR posters positive thoughts for the holidays (and recruiting season ahead!).
On another note, Mrs. Shadowjack, who was a trailing spouse last year, has an interview this year :-) Might there be a job on the horizon???
Chin is up!
Best of luck to Mrs Jack!
It just seems like thus year verses last year positions are being sewn up. Or maybe I wasn't paying attention till around feb. Ah well time shall reveal what us to be.
Back to nail biting! Lol

AASSA 2013
Did many go this year? Were many jobs offered?
At some point I would like to be in SA or CA with my family for some years. Just can't make that fair it's too far... I know getting to fair is very important but haven't been able to make this one. Perhaps next year.....
Has anyone received offers?? Pm now works so feel free to pm me.
Thanks all. Hope your having a fantastic holiday season!
No but I have been asked if I was ever fired in an application. What did you do to grow from the situation? Embrace and improve? Bitter and complain? Being fired will never ruin the rest of your life, but how you move forward will. Get your facts straight, stay positive, be transparent and move forward. You might find resistance, but eventually this will be buried in your resume and a non issue. Improve ( or at least give that perception.)
Great advice Briz! I am sure you are not the first person in this situation antila. Just explain to your next school and if it's a good fit perhaps they will take the whole scenario into account! Things do happen and I'm sure you can find work elsewhere! Best of luck to you!
