Thanks for the advice… we decided to turn it down in hopes of a bigger (or more attractive) fish. Tough few days, that was. Anyway, like you said, no looking back.. time to cast out the nets again!

That's my biggest fear right now if I accept this position as it's a good option, but not the best.

On the flipside... we've been offered positions at a decent school with a decent package in an area of the world we wouldn't have considered. We wish we could have all of our offers, current and future, on the table all at once. Unfortunately we don't know if there will be future offers, so we're forced to make a decision this week.

Pretty sure that's WHY a lot of us choose to teach overseas.

One thing I will say about Concordia.. I applied there for a position. I was never interviewed, but they notified me that the position was filled anyway. I thought it was a very kind gesture. Pretty sure most schools don't go to that length to show deference to applicants.

My associate is very helpful and encouraging. Every time I email her with a question, she responds within a day with something helpful. Even without her though, the database is worth the fee.

Just to follow up..

We've interviewed with both AISE campuses. One gave us a contract to look over and decide if we wanted to go further in the interview process. The other offered positions at the end of the interview.

Not sure what we'll do.. we have until the end of the week to follow up with both.

Positions aren't advertised on the GEMS teaching application portal yet. I applied through Search...

I know it's said to avoid startups, but GEMS is an established system, right? Does that change the advice to avoid?

Also, salaries are 70k+ with housing covered for 4 years and a BA, but teaching couples' with 2 dependents is listed at 30k. Surely it isn't THAT expensive to live in Singapore..??

Not really inside info, but my wife and were requested to interview with ASK recently, and we hadn't even applied there. Gave us a feeling that it's not too desirable a place... Or we're just awesome. Either way, we weren't interested in Kuwait.

We had hardly a nibble until my inbox got hit up with 3 invitations to interview today. One Friday, and the other two are being scheduled…

IAMBOG, yes it was American International School. In fact, both AISE campuses are requesting interviews with us.

My wife will enjoy the beach part.. are there parks, entertainment, good restaurants around? Is it multicultural at all? My wife dresses modestly by American standards, but will she have to wear certain things in public?
