How long for ISR to post reviews?

How long does it take for ISR to post a school review? I know reviews with comments get priority and mine was just a filled in rating form but it's been a week now and it's not up yet.
I'm starting to wonder about a claim that ISR asks for money from schools to not post bad reviews!

Re: how many hours do you work a week?

I work 28.4 hours a week. This includes all:

-teaching time
-duties
-clubs
-meetings

I think it's too much.

Re: Is PYP training worth it?

Good question. I don't like PYP. I paid for training and it got my foot in the door though. But instead of doing onsite training for a few days do a cheaper online course.

Re: Best Options?

I got a good job right out of university, no experience. It wasn't a top school by any means but I spent 6 years there. Fantastic life both in and out of school and managed to bank some money too. I applied directly to schools. You could try that.

Re: Teaching couples w/3 kids where are you?

This problem surprises me. I thought teaching couples with kids would be just as marketable as teaching couples without kids. It could be argued that couples with kids may be more stable, not out partying as much, values more in line with school and community, etc. I guess the main drawbacks for the school might be free or reduced tuition for the kids, health insurance, flights, larger teacher accommodations.

Re: Teaching to Admin, then back to teaching

I personally think it's crap if school's have a problem with the teaching-administration-teaching change, unless you've been out of teaching for maybe 5 years. But that's more for classroom discipline and routines. I think it can be good if teachers have administration experience to understand where they are coming from and what other things are important that are happening in the school. Just as administration needs teaching experience.

Re: Doctorate Programs?

LisaLisaLisa,

Thanks for your info.
How is the cost?
How long to complete the program if you are working full time as well?

I wonder how the ranking of the university can affect career prospects.

Doctorate Programs?

Can anyone recommend any doctorate programs for expatriate educators and administrators? Either online or on-site programs are of interest.

Re: Teaching Special Education but....

Shadowjack.

But that would be the thing. I'd like to apply to spec ed positions as I'm certified. But if there's no chance with no spec ed experience just my elementary experience then I won't waste anyone's time applying.

Teaching Special Education but....

What are the chances of securing a contract teaching Special Education if I have only just recently become certified to teach this area but have no years experience teaching it. But I have been teaching upper elementary school for over 10 years. Would a reputable school consider my application for an elementary or secondary special education position?

Using only Search Associates?

Is using only Search Associates a mistake? They do seem to be above the other options like ISS, TIE, etc. It seems like all good schools around the world are signed with them. I also have years of PYP, a graduate degree and many years overseas experience so hope I have a chance at the better schools. In the past I started my search too early but this time apparently I started too late!

Re: WASC Attack

I've been involved in two situations like this. One was back in my home country where I did not get my wages at all for a job. It was pre-internet days. But I made it a pet project legally hounding my employer and I got my wages about 9 months later. The other time was helping an Asian friend of mine get her wages from her Australian employer. It took about 5 months but I got it. That was early days of internet. Very useful.
I would be creative. Just the thought for this school or WASC of some things that could happen or all the negative publicity may be all that's needed to get your money.
Here is who I would contact:
-60 Minutes (email as many people there are you can but who are relevant, even the individual reporters),
-email all embassies and consulates in the city where that school is. You could even email businesses there who may have staff with their children at the school, or at least considering that school.
-Is there a Better Business Bureau or Chamber of Commerce?
-I worked at a school in Europe that was applying for an award from either the UN or EU. The award was going to give the school some money and it was very concerned about its appearances and publicity. Maybe you could look into contacting them.
-post info at all the other reviewing websites, wherever you can.
-post at forums for the city of your school, especially expat forums for that city.
-did you get the job through Search Associates? Who was your associate? Get their name involved, although that might kill your chance of ever using them again. :P

Good luck!

Re: WASC Attack

Name and shame the school. And, if you have any incriminating documentation or emails from either that school or WASC you can scan, take screen shots and upload them here. You can blur your name if you want though the school or WASC may name you. If you want, wait until you secure a job. Or also secure a job and wait some time.... like a year. Another option is to post anything you may have that is incriminating that can not lead back to you, for example if there were emails that were sent to more staff.

Good luck.
