Contact your airline first and see how their extra/overweight bag fees work. When I moved to SE Asia three years ago, Cathay Pacific allowed me two 50lbs. bags for free. Increasing one bag to 70lbs. incurred a $35 fee. They also allowed two extra 50 lbs bags at $100 each. I also hauled a carry on that weighed around 20 lbs. 240 lbs. to the opposite of the world for $235 is a pretty good deal and more than covered all my shipping costs.

It is an decent school with an ok package, but understand for whom you will be working:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sinar_Mas_Group
(I'm not a wikipedia fan, but this is a great page to start your own research.)
I will say it is full of solid, energetic, young teachers. I think most move on from there after a few years to very choice schools.
BSD is...well...if are you single or into nightlife you will spend alot of time in a car getting to where you want to be. BSD is pretty much quiet, surburban Jakarta, in as much as one can be in quiet, surburban Jakarta.

I am in SE Asia.
Please do not think I am saying it does not matter if you have certification. Without a doubt it is to one's advantage to have certification from the States, Canada, the UK, etc... However, at my school not having certification does not eliminate an applicant from contention.
To second what inspiration wrote: great references, successful overseas experience, and being an amazing teacher are what matter most...
Oh... Knowing someone really helps, too. :)

Re: Best places or types of school to make/save money?
I'm interested in some advice about the best places or schools to make and save money. Middle or High School specifically....any feedback will be appreciated. Anywhere in the world.
I'm looking to make the move abroad next summer and would like to easily put away £1500 a month and live comfortably.
Thanks for your time.
You will want to target Asia and the Middle East. However, if you want to move summer 2011 you need to get started yesterday. I teach at a fairly desirable school in SE Asia. We have already filled half our vacancies for next year and the job fairs have not even started yet.

Re: Political Climate in South East Asia?
So it sounds like the only region your husband will consider is western Europe? Middle East? South America? Africa? I guess maybe Japan might be "safe."
That's sad.
I teach in SE Asia and feel safer here than I do when back in America.
If looking for complete stability and safety then I am not sure what to tell you other than your choice of countries will be very limited.

You get 100 lbs./2 bags free from the airline. 2 extra bags will run about $50 each. You wheel into the airport. You wheel it out. How hard is that?
I took five fifty pound bags from the SE USA to SE Asia. Checked them from the start all the way through to my final destination.
Total cost $150...no shipping BS, no customs BS, it all arrived in the airport when I did despite changing planes three times/five airports.

If you are limiting yourself to Europe and Search wouldn't take your money it seems pretty clear what to expect. Maybe you might want to open yourself up to some other areas such as the Middle East and lower tier schools in Asia, spend a few years there, and work your way up through the system. That is how it works for most people, even those without kids.

Re: Changes
Keeping one's retirement and stability as compared to going overseas and leaving both might keep potential candidates in States from the job fairs.
Thats a great point. I was referring to the young teachers who may soon find themselves unemployed or their salaries shrinking. I teach in a system very hurt by the housing bubble. Consequently they are asking teachers to take a three to five percent pay cut next year and reducing 400 jobs district wide. The teachers who are retained will be teaching seven periods a day instead of six. Another district has told every teacher with less than four years to begin making plans to find a new job and be certain to make no big purchases such as a house or car. Who would want to come back to the states for that? A large number of teachers in my demographic (30s, no kids, 10 years of experience) are looking for alternatives, and many are starting to look overseas as there are not going to be any jobs in the US for a few years. Consequently there may be less turnover in international schools. Anyone see the vicious circle on the horizon?

It will be interesting to see what happens next year when hundreds and thousands of Stateside teachers are cut this summer. Some states are facing cuts that will be devastating. A have a few friends who were thinking about returning to the US in a year or two, but now know there are no jobs to be had in the US and are therefore staying put. Consequently I will bet the number of overseas openings will be limited. I am glad I got going this year.

I was hired for my first overseas job before Christmas for next year by one of the "first tier" schools. I only used Skype and a ton of persistence. Nonetheless, ISS still kept my money for registering for their IRC I never attended. To be fair they did make it clear the deposit was not refundable, but it is a crappy policy.
