Many 1st time teachers get assigned to the stans or the rural china schools for their first placements. The premium schools are saved as rewards for teachers that renew and continue with QSI.
I have friends that have taught in 2 IS in Korea and just were hired with QSI in very easy to fill positions and they ended up in Macedonia. They were thrilled with the placement in Europe.

Inman, I do agree, it does make people who are qualified, but aren't Christian, not able to acquire a job there, unless they are dishonest.
I am not IB trained and most likely will never be (out of the classroom now), but I have 10 yrs of early childhood teaching experience and many schools would not look at me either because they want the IB trained staff already, kinda the same thing.
In life, unfortunately, many things are not all inclusive of everyone, which would be great if it was.
As a Christian I will say, it is nice to work in an environment where everyone has the same foundation in life. It is really the most pleasant environment I have been in, in a long time, although not perfect (nothing is).
All my intentions were to give qualified people who would be interested in a Christian IB school a heads up as I know how it feels when you're in the job market. Unfortunately, you try to do something nice and people pick it apart to where you feel it's not worth it.

The people working there must be a professed Christian, not the students.
How does being a Christian school go against open-mindedness? If the founders of the school want to create a Christian school, how is only wanting Christian teachers wrong? There have been non-Christian's that have taught there, unbeknownst to the staff, but while they were there, they upheld the beliefs of the school.
By IB schools only wanting IB trained staff, and unwilling to train new teachers to IB, like some do, can also been seen as not being open-minded or discriminatory, but it's their choice because it's their school.
These are private institutions, not public schools, so they can do whatever they want, which can be good in some ways and taken advantage in others.
I just find it interesting that some posters have such strong convictions (rude IMO) and use extremely loaded words that can be easily taken as rude. The words cult and desperate are taken that way by a reader. If a student turned in a paper with those words, as a teacher, I would want so much proof that I could not deny the use of those words. By being Christian and/or giving people a heads up in my world does not find using those words necessary.
As shadowjack said, I guess people will just post things like that just to do it without thinking of others. I also guess that's what my "cult" teaches me, to think of others before I make a choice.

If you all judge people by religion it's a sad state to think about what you're teaching in the classroom.
I don't see what the difference between and International School being slanted towards a religion and a US Private school....they are basically the same thing, a paid tuition school. If people don't like it, don't work there or enroll your child there.

I would be weary of the terms. The best part is that your salary is tax free, but I wouldn't say the best of packages. We save tons in Korea but we aren't paying for insurance, housing, or yearly airfare.
I think prices in Korea are very expensive. A bag of apples is about $9 USD, 1 apple is about $1.50 USD. Expect everything to be double or triple the price.
We make it work because our school takes care of everything so I can't comment on how much you'll save.

We have friends that taught outside of Jakarta and it should have taken only an hour to drive there, but because of traffic, at times it took 5 hours. They said it was difficult to purchase western foods but things were very cheap.
The only story they told me about medical experiences is that my friend was pregnant there the first 5 months but didn't know she was pregnant. She had extreme morning sickness and went to multiple Dr's and they couldn't diagnose her for a few months!

Our school "chooses" our bank for us. We use KEB. I have no idea how they work with international wiring, but I did have to get a check cashed and it had a $10 fee. We had to get a separate "international" card and I had to get a separate card w/ a Visa. They only gave us ATM cards, which didn't help when I needed to pay online for things locally.
Our school pays 1/3 Korean and 2/3 US and they wire it directly to our US accounts. I imagine the people that aren't from the US get it wired into their home accounts. The point is, is that our school wires it for us. I know this is the minority for schools though.
