The other thing to consider is whether or not the country you are moving to has a quarantine time. Some countries require your dog to be held under quarantine (at your expense) for sometimes a long period of time (some countries can be 3 weeks to a month).

Online certification in BC

For the time being, BC does not recognize teacher certifications completed online or through distance programs. This is quoted from the bc teacher regulation website: (please see item 3 on the list)

"Some examples of programs that do not result in BC certification are:
-very short programs
-on-the-job or employment-based programs
-programs completed entirely by distance education or on-line
-programs that do not qualify for teaching in the kindergarten to grade 12 public school system"

Bullying

This post makes me wonder how we can ever hope to eradicate bullying from schools if the teachers are also doing it.

I've also heard that in order to get a teacher certification from Teacher Ready in Florida you must secure a job within the State of Florida, does anyone know if this is accurate?
So far it seems like Texas is the only option?

Getting certified while living abroad

My wife is Canadian and is looking for a program to complete her teacher's certification through while living abroad. We have checked into Teach Ready and the College of New Jersey global program, but the problem with American certification programs is that if you do not have an American social security number, you can only be awarded a certificate of qualification. Will this certificate be sufficient for an international school teacher? Or does anyone know of any other programs that she could become certified through?

Thanks in advance for any info anyone has to offer!

Thanks

Thanks to everyone who took the time to reply with feedback. I am required to give notice of intent to return to my current job very early this year so I don't think an online job search will be feasible, it sounds like it might be worth waiting for my wife to become certified (1.5 years away).

IB Physics Teacher with non-teaching spouse and two children

I am a Canadian IB Physics teacher with 5 years of international school experience. I am thinking of going to a job fair this year but am not sure how I would fair with a non-teaching spouse and two children. I hear stories of how single teachers with dependants wont even be looked at at a job fair, but am wondering what my prospects are being that I am a Physics teacher which I understand is in higher demand.
My wife is currently in the process of getting certified as a teacher, would it be wiser for us to stay put until we are a teaching couple?
I appreciate any feedback that anyone has to offer, thanks.
