I got the same email, but I already accepted a post for next year at an international school. I find it hard to imagine that many people "hold out" for July/August hiring. Perhaps if you are not sure whether you are going to leave a state-side job it might work to accept over the summer.

I have to say, we were very happy with ISS and the New York fair. We are a couple with 4 years experience and were offered 7 interviews.

There were far less candidates than jobs, though many of the schools that we were interested in had filled their positions at the Cambridge fair. We went in targeting about 10-15 schools and about half still had our positions available. However there were many schools that left the fair with vacancies.

Overall, the vibe was much less stressful that we anticipated, though I think it had to do with the fact that much of the hiring had happened prior to the fair.

We got a handful of offers and took one in a lovely European location!

Overall, it was expensive, but none of the schools that we contacted directly contacted us, so the fair was more than necessary.

Wondering about MIS. There is little posted on them. Anyone with experience have some insight into the current situation with administration?

This is our first fair. We sent out many resumes and have only gotten acknowledgments. We thought we would get more direct interview invitations. Can someone with more experience with this tell us how this whole process goes?

We applied to Shanghai just last week and did not apply to Bejing. Don't know much about either school, but have been to both cities. Shanghai was British for a long time and so is much more modern. We were told that the most building cranes in the world are found in Shanghai, so I guess it depends on whether or not that is your vibe. Beijing we did find to be quite polluted, but not more than most developing big cities. We were there 4 years ago and so I am sure that it has changed as a result of the Olympics.

However, like I said, we are only considering Shanghai, so ...

So ... do people know if jobs are offered shortly after this fair, or if schools wait until after the bigger ones to make job offers. I don't want to spend the money going down to this fair if they are going to wait until ISS anyway.

That is the question ... do I sign up for the Atlanta fair without any prior contacts made with schools?

So then, if I don't hear anything ... I just show up to the fair? What happens then?

Are many hirings made at this fair or do they hold out until after the Feb. fairs?
