FYI to anyone even remotely thinking of interviewing with this school:

Majed Nasser, the Director, was kicked out at Christmas. Well, well well. No surprise there. But for those of you who may be thinking that this might mean a change for the better, believe me .......... this is ENS ............ IT WON'T!!!

I have just finished working here and I can tell you with 200% certainty:

Emirates National School DOES NOT HAVE A CAMPUS IN DUBAI!!!

Stooping so low with that TES advert is truly disgraceful behaviour.

MY GOD, ENS is totally delusional!!!

I've just had a look at the CIS website and the ENS recruitment advert says that we are looking for an IB English A2/B teacher, along with other IB & PYP staff. They've also posted our curricula as 'IB' and 'PYP'.

You must be joking. WE DON'T EVEN HAVE IB HERE!!!!!

TO ADMIN who are undoubtedly reading this: I wonder what they would say at the IB office if they were to find out that you are misrepresenting their organisation at this school . . .

PTTeacher: People have said MUCH more than just "avoid this school". Read the specific examples. Pay for your membership and read the reviews. Or even have a look at the comments on TES staffroom forum.

Foreign07work: You know you are in a very small minority.

Lots of reasons why people need (not want) to stay more than one year. One I know of is for medical reasons. Another is because of a spouse and children. I know NO ONE who stays here for the 'joy' of working at ENS.

This place is really only for the very, very desperate. And even then you have to be pretty d*** desperate. Listen to the advice you have been freely offered and DON'T come here if you have any professional integrity or self-respect.

I only just got here and am handing in my notice at the end of the month. Probably along with 3/4 of the staff, from the sounds of it. As a matter of fact, I've only spoken with ONE teacher in my section of the school who is staying on for next year.

To those of you who may still believe that these stories and comments about ENS are exaggerrations:

We just had CIS (Council of International Schools) here THEMSELVES investigating the situation. Basically, they came (all the way from LONDON, no less!!!) to find out why so many people were getting fired, breaking contract etc.

If this doesn't speak for itself then I don't know what does.

Yes, believe it. THIS PLACE IS TRULY YOUR WORST NIGHTMARE!

I really wish I had known about this site earlier, like before the recruiting fairs and before sending out applications to schools via TES & TIE. If back then I had read the reviews posted on here about this place I never, never, NEVER, N-E-V-E-R NNNNEEEEEVVVVEEEERRRRR would have come.

I arrived here in August and within two weeks was already looking to get out. At first I thought it was just an unbelievably mismanaged school, but have now come to realise that it is actually much worse than that. It is downright sinister.

I have been shocked at how badly some teachers have been treated here and at the laughably ridiculous way that the 'board of governors' (that's a whole joke in itself), 'director' and their sidekicks, the principals, try to run the place. They try to portray themslves as a 'world-class school' but it is VERY clear that they have no concept whatsoever what a REAL school actually looks like or how it is run. They have no moral standards.

It is depressing beyond belief to be on the school bus every day on the way to work as the morale of the teachers is so low it has hit rock bottom for most. All teachers I have spoken to say they absolutely hate the school and many of those that did stay on into the second year of their contract wonder what on earth possessed them to do that and wish they hadn't. We are NOT treated here like the professionals that we are. We are just this year's recruits on the looooong conveyor belt of ENS teachers.

It is only just October and one teacher already packed up and left last weekend without notice! I wouldn't be surprised if more followed soon. Apparently this happened last year as well, along with a lot of sudden and unexplained teacher dismissals.

Thanks to my new colleagues who told me about this site. Unfortunately it was too late for me this year but I will spread the word about this site and even more importantly, I will tell everyone I know in education about the despicable goings-on at ENS to save other teachers from going through the same day to day misery that we all are.
