I know a school in WE that has lost every single case brought against them.
Were you in the union?
Give it go if it costs you nothing. Future schools will be none the wiser.
Just make sure you have a reference already.

Well we can see things haven't gone her way and she's immediately calling people racist. I'd avoid her like the plague.

Are you sure about your references? They are able to submit confidentially so they could have said something about you that they would not have said on an open reference.

Generally licensure from US/CAN/OZ/NZ/UK is good enough for international schools. If you get fully licensed in the US you can get QTS with England anyway.
They do typically want two years' experience in your home country though. This may be circumvented if you have maths or physics but I doubt it will be the case for business.

Re: American sacking culture
After I originally posted this, the school down the road just sacked the majority of their staff or else they had to give them permanency. Yes, it was an all-American school.

Re: Package checkup for China
That is almost precisely the same package I went out to China for about 15 years ago! The RMB has depreciated considerably since then.

Re: Teaching in the UK
Be careful!
Yes, there are good schools in the UK, but these are not the ones that will be interested in you. Jobs at the few good schools in the UK will be spoken for by local teachers. It is the problem schools that will simply not be able to fill their vacancies, and that is where you come in as a foreigner.
I started my career in one of these places. Let me tell you, I would not allow my dog in there.

The only school *I* would consider working in...
I see frequent comments from teachers here that go something like this: The only school *I* would consider working in in this country is (insert name of the elite first tier school in the country).
Is it really the case that there are teachers who have written the IB guide for physics and further mathematics here or do we have some people with some seriously inflated views of themselves?

Teachers who ignore all the reviews and then post a review
I just noticed another recent review about a school in Switzerland. The teacher wrote the 11th completely condemnatory review after leaving in disgust. I really wonder about such teachers. They themselves either read the reviews and ignored them or didn't read them in the first place. So either they write a review in order to discourage people such as themselves or they have finally found ISR only after moving countries and jobs.
I have never understood this mentality. What is with these people?

They can get native Chinese teachers for about 10% of your current salary, so I doubt you'll have much success.

Re: 45 years old. Life decisions. What would you do?
Have the 12 years been in RoK? If so, you are only another eight years away from a pension. Option Three must be your best bet.
Also, I think coupling the Education Cert with the Kinesiology degree may only allow you to qualify as a PE teacher, and they are ten a penny.

Re: The Job Search is Not Going Well...
I get your reasoning with including the TEFL job, but I doubt it will do you many favours in Thailand, or anywhere else. Schools may think that you expect to be paid for five years' experience instead of two.

General quality of schools at London was average. It seems to be getting worse lately.

Re: I wish I had known....
You get a lot of attention early in your career because you are cheap, not because you are good.
