Jeez. Clearly, nothing has changed at this place. Even if "carlenss" did bail out without telling anyone (which I doubt), he/she would not have been the first or the last. On-the-spot dismissals and sudden overnight disappearances happened so frequently at ENS that it became a running (LOL) joke at my end of the school.

Oh, and I think we don't need to ask: We ALL know what ENS900s position at the school probably is, don't we?!

Oh really? Well isn't it interesting then that this 'news' didn't manage to trickle down to me or my colleagues . . .

I also wonder about other news which didn't make its way to the teachers or parents or students. For example, where did some of our teachers 'mysteriously' disappear to over the course of the year? Most of us knew about the Science 'teacher' (not qualified to teach anyway) who did a runner herself 2 months into the school year (no surprise), but where did the others go? The boys' school teacher (how long did he last - a month)? The primary school computer teacher? And the primary school art teacher? And the high school EAL teacher? Oh, and the original principal at Al Ain? And why did the primary school field trip get cancelled by the board at the last minute, after all the moeny had been collected?

Oh yes, and even more importantly, why did the school sweep that fatal school bus accident under the carpet?

The several British public schools I have taught at have all been VERY difficult due to extremely poor student discipline. However, the schools have all been in and around London. Maybe in a smaller / less cosmopolitan place you would have a better experience. Still, my personal choice would be the int'l school, as I have had very few student discipline probs in most of my int'l school postings -- not compared with the British public schools, anyway!

Exactly -- what DO you know? My colleagues and I spent a year (and some of them two) covering for teachers who jumped ship or were fired while school was still in session. Some of my colleagues were even forced to teach subjects which they knew nothing about (I believe garnettulip mentioned this earlier) or lose their jobs. Yes, I know perfectly well what it is like.

Perhaps a year or two of this sort of experience, along with being degraded, dismissed, lied to, mistreated, yelled at, undervalued and belittled by your employers, and working in fear of losing your job at the whim of the admin because they have decided to side with students and parents against you, would give you some insight before deciding to condemn others so blindly?

Lots of jobs open at ENS now. You are welcome to them. Oh, and please do post again in a few months' time.

I have just come back from working at ENS and I am one of the MANY Western teachers who are NOT going back . . . despite the fact that the school thinks we all are. I, along with the other colleagues who are in this position, felt we had no choice but to to do it this way. Yes, we wish we could have been honest, but honesty means nothing at this school.

Believe all the negative comments you read about ENS and STAY AWAY!!!!! This is not a place to further your career.
