Hi,
We are experienced international school teachers who now have 3 kids. As we watch those with 3 kids attempt to move on and attend job fairs or not, seems their (our?) options are limited to QSI or Saudi.
Comments appreciated.

Do you advise teaching couples split up or not during the sign up session?

3 kids
I have some friends with 3 kids who got hired straight out of the States two years ago at AISB (Romania). That's a pretty great IB school and package. However they are paying a portion of the 3rd child's tuition but have a 4 bedroom house and car wich is included in the package.

Merge
I've copied from the Director's news letter sent out this week (it's a nightmare for parents and teachers with kids on multiple campuses, teacher housing and so on):
[quote]I[n case you missed it last week. Here is some background regarding our plans: For many years the school has been working hard to find a location to house all of our students under one roof. The Ministry of Education strongly supports this move, as it is a requirement that we house all of our students at one address. We have found our new home at the TCL International E City! Closing
What Severam noted, we've also heard Italy as well and the high school in Macedonia. The official word is supposedly coming soon. Loads going on with QSI especially, Shenzhen/Shekou.

Meaning
It means...teacher and-or counseling
Meaning, they do not have the funds (currently closing 5 schools) so they ask a counselor/teacher to double as a counselor/teacher.
The current Bratislava “counselor" is teaching science and cultural studies and counseling in her preps.

December 1st
Intent forms are due December 1st. I imagine QSI headquarters will have a better idea about positions to fill soon after.

Contacts
Two years ago our Director of Instruction (MA) was hired. He recommended two other families the following year and they were also hired, however are on different campuses. After the initial recommendation and phone interviews they did have to go to the fair to interview personally. So from this experience it was having someone they knew at the school.

Quals
@ Danda
Yes, the couple from here went to ISP (Prague) single hire with non teaching spouse. I did not mention that one but as you highlighted many do move up from here. In fact, in 2 years 6 families moved to ARAMCO if you consider that a tier 1.
The staff in Shekou is over 60 large. I imagine with any big school, some move on, up, sideways and over. Remember some people move to schools or locations for quality of life options not to move up and down the "tiers" wink wink like QSI maternity.
I've noticed that QSI hires BAs in history for example but not BAs in education so maybe that is why you have seen the lack of success finding a better school. They may have teaching experience but not qualifications.
I totally agree on the "safe" comment you made though.. my husband and I both have BAs and MAs in education, IB, MYP, PYP and AP experience have 10+ overseas and are still considering a transfer.

Not to worry
I would not worry about it. The last few years QSIers from my school have moved on to the following schools (just to mention a few): Saudi ARAMCO, Bangkok NIST, American International School of Vienna, Graded Sao Paulo and ISH(Hauge). These were, singles, couples and families (one with 3 kids).

For QSIers with experience
Hello,
My family and I have been with QSI for 4 years and are considering a transfer. At the start of next year our kids will be @ 2 and 4 years of age. Would those of you with experience please give us your 2 cents on good locations for families? Appreciated

Hang in there
I am in my 10th year of teaching overseas in 4 very different schools and locations. Each place having a unique set of challenges none of which I could have ever anticipated. My guess is if you skid out of one contract/challenge you are surely going to walk into another one. It is just the nature of the gig. Stick it out. You say you are in a tier one school (I don't really believe in the tier system) but if that is what you believe, you have it pretty good, and it may not get any better. If you continue to move away looking for the "ultimate" you will be moving around forever.
