Still going with this post huh?? Well I originally didn't reply because it seemed some posters were so vehement in their hatred of the program that nothing I would say could possibly sway them. I also put off the original post because I can actually picture kevinmulqueen in my head, he has an idea of how English should be taught and woe betide if any is going to tell him how teach teach differently. We have all taught with one of these guys.

In any case, I stopped myself from replying earlier mainly because I had no sympathy for the guy. Surely the question must be asked: If you hate the MYP so much, why do you keep going to MYP schools?

P.S The Mice and Men comments are the funniest - You can still teach all of big themes, the characters, the use of English. The AOI just helps guides the focus of the unit. Its really not a hard one to get your head around, my students seem to get it.

I think you might be right PsyGuy. Looks like Cassie has been trying hard to defend this place. Read the comments here

All I know is that I knew teachers from there who couldn't wait to leave. One step above a language school, If you have any form of teaching quals at all, you can do much better

I think you are missing a step here. Given your international experience (1 school, no IB) in what you describe at a lower tier 2, I would be targeting schools who are high 2/low 1.

Some examples:

International school Phnom Penh
Prem Center Chiang Mai
International School Ho Chi Minh
Vientiane International School
Bali International School
Saigon South Intl School
UNIS Hanoi
Mont Kiara Kuala Lumpur

The list goes on

I will reply here for everyone to see.

Piaget is not a International school in the real sense of the term. It is a Singapore curriculum school located in Medan and it caters mainly for rich locals, most of whom are of Chinese decent. It is for profit and I have heard the admin watch every penny. Large classes and few resources. I know of one person who took off early from their contract.

For me it would be a steer clear from anyone who actually has teaching qualification. I don't think Piaget would be a foot in the door to the international scene. Keep looking, there are more and more jobs coming up
