not much happens
That is the truth. I had a contract that was violated at every turn. I signed at a major fair and went back to the person organizing the fair who made a couple calls. Nothing happened other than putting pressure on the director which didn't work anyway. So, if they don't honor the contract or timeline once then I would go. The school should have been ditched from further fairs based on what they did as they have a reputation for recruiting at any cost, but they're still there.

Be cautious
I once had a letter of intent that wasn't honored and got the run around on the actual contract in print until it was almost too late for me to find something else. Also, consider this, why wouldn't they have a contract to give you? Are they telling you that they're reviewing fixing the current one? Don't buy that. I've heard that line before. Most schools you want to work at will get you a contract in 2 days if not that very day. Don't sign on spec. You'll be sorry.

Investing while abroad
Does anyone have any tips on investing while abroad? Are you investing from your home country or are you investing from where you're living? Is there a company that specializes in international teachers and their investments? Any help appreciated. We've got some investments at home but I think there must be a better way to invest than what we're doing which is the traditional route.
Thanks,
Neptune

Agree
Hi there,
I agree with the contract not ready dance routine. I should have run then but I didn't. The contract didn't have any details on it and listed a variety of ways they can get rid of me. It also contravened the employment laws of the country the school is in. In retrospect, if they say they're going to do something in a 2 week span and they don't follow through for whatever reason then run. If they can';t hold true to what they've said and string you along, telling you next week, in a few days, I don't know what the hold up is etc. then I would look elsewhere. From experience its not worth it.

Nope
Hi there,
I agree with the previous post that said been there done that. It is not a clean contract and I wouldn't do it unless it was my only option and even then I'd look for something else.

totally different view
Hi there,
I've not heard bad things about UAE. There are rules and regs as everywhere. It is expat friendly and an entertaining city to live in. Know many people who have lived there and really like the lifestyle. I guess it depends if you are half empty or half full adn what kind of post you are coming form now.

Hi there,
Don't dismiss the lack of response or ability/availability to answer your questions. My Husband and I made that mistake and suffered for 2 years after. That was a red flag that we explained away and shouldn't have. In my experience if they can't/won't/whatever answer a question with specifics there is a reason why beyond them being busy. If it is beyond you just feeling anxious and waiting for a response that may just take some time -then think about it- is it a red flag? Is there a way to find out the information without them?
