You should post this question on the TES forum as you get more UK teachers there.
http://community.tes.co.uk/forums/64.aspx
There is a thread on this topic there already.

Luck I think really. We got into one a few years ago, just because it seemed we were the perfect match in terms of subjects and one of our references said something that made us stand out to the director. We hadn't even applied to the school, they asked us for an interview. I know we were just lucky at the time.
Most of the teachers just move from one top tier school to another, it's just like the schools exchange teachers each year. If you say you are moving to Bangkok, they just think ISB? It's like there are no other schools.
Some of the teachers I work with aren't anything special either but they know how to sell themselves.

How was that fair? Were schools offering jobs?

Casablanca American School
I have been reading the reviews on this school and it sounds crazy.
Is this really happening? A known felon teaching the kids and open racism?
Lots of people seem upset about the racism but nothing is being done about it. You know we always ask how did Hilter manage to do what he did? Weren't there any good people around? I have always wondered what I would do in those circumstances. Probably like these people I wouldn't do anything?
What is really going on there?

I agree with Whatnow. You will need a car in Nassau. Buses don't go to many areas and they stop running about 7pm.
It is an expensive island and the salaries in SAS and Queens which I think are the ones advertising aren't that good. If you are single it will be hard.
If you worked at Lyford Cay then you get a housing allowance on top of your salary which was $1000 a month the last time I heard so the money ended up being pretty good. Most teachers from Lyford Cay rent small apartments on the beach, outside the gated community. These can range from studios to bigger, for what they were they weren't value for money but they were okay. I didn't hear people complain about them. They better value than the places in the East where SAS and Queens are. If you did live out that side it would be about 30min drive against traffic to work.
I had single friends who worked as SAS and although they had complained about money being tight, nearly all of them said they did save a bit in the end.
