Thank you Psyguy. I went through my emails that I sent the university, and they recommended calling the registrar’s office, because the registrar doesn’t have an email, which I also find strange. I’ll call them and see. As for the school where I did my practicum, they don’t even answer my request for a letter of proof of employment. So it will be challenging to even get a reply from them, although not impossible.

I had an interview with a school in Hong Kong several years ago, was one of the the final candidates and didn’t get the job. I was asked to submit the proof of practicum hours, which my teaching certificate didn’t require and I did do some hours but my university in the US didn’t have any record of that probably because it’s been more than a decade, if not more. So I think this was why they decided to go with another candidate.

You won’t get a QTS, but you will get a PGCE.

Some public schools in the Netherlands are starting to be PYP schools. If you’re not picky, I think you will be able to get a job without a problem. My friend who is Dutch told me that since Dutch schools are looking for teachers, it should be easy to find a teaching job.

I have worked at three of the four countries that you have mentioned, and I can tell you that at least two of them required a teaching credential/license. You have to submit your credentials to the Department of Education in at least one of the countries you have mentioned, if not all. So they don’t even interview people without teaching credentials.

I don’t think schools who are looking for people who have English as their “Native” language because of nationality is not accurate. For example, some or a lot of our students grow up learning English, and therefore, know English better than their “native” language. I have met people who have passports from UK, US, Australia, etc. who have immigrated after they turned 20, and they don’t speak English as well as the students we teach.

It also depends on whether the department of education in the country approves your diplomas or not. I was told that PGCE, M.Ed., B.Ed, and/or QTS are the only credentials the department of education would accept and that PGCEM - Post Graduate Certificate in Educational Management would not be accepted by one of the countries where I worked.

I am sure financial is really important, but as I was reading the posts, I have been wondering whether the 3 children will be able to adapt to the school culture. Would there be enough international students to make friends or would there only be local students? I had a friend who had her son in a school where he was the only foreigner in class, and he was fine. However, I know some children struggle in this kind of situation.

What do you think about combining a Grade 9 and 10 English classes together?
Our school is tiny and is going to eventually close in a few years. Therefore, combined classes are inevitable in the future. However, the English teacher has asked if we can combine the Grade 9 & 10 English classes together for next scool year, because she thinks that it will be good for the students. I personally think that developmentally, Grade 9s probably need their own class and Grade 10s can have a year to prepare for the DP program. Does anybody have any research concerning benefits or disadvantages of combining classes?

I agree with sid. Contacting IB schools directly would be the cheapest way, because there are so many of them who wouldn’t use search or schrole. However, some jobs come up on joyjobs and wishlistjobs. If you are not picky about the tier of the school, try contacting schools directly. There are many new schools that are also candidate schools, and the number of IB schools are increasing.

As far as I know, the situation in Thailand has changed recently due to the increase in Covid19 cases. There are very few countries that have controlled the . in a way that it would be safe to continue onsite teaching. Some countries look like they are doing better than others because of the number of infected cases. However, look closely at the population, because it is possible that the ratio of the covid19 cases are way higher than you thought or vice versa.
