I am aware that the limited places for students fill up so there is a demand for more teachers, but is it a case where schools are happy to get teachers with less experience just to get a warm body in the classroom and collect the tuition?
It seems very unfair![/quote]
When push comes to shove at this point in the year, I believe Goddess has hit the nail on the head.

Here's a list of articles on the rising cost of living in the UAE. This comes from Gulf News, one of the English newspapers in the country.

U$21,000 tax free was sufficient in Bogotá, Colombia. This is based on everything else being covered by the school...housing, water, electricity, etc. Yes, there were schools in the city that paid better, but I survived (ate out at posh places whenever I wanted, travelled extensively domestically and internationally, shopped, etc.) I still walked away with savings.

I believe the concept of Live Teacher Recruiting is great; however, their site was of no help to me this time around
Though I would have liked to save myself some money (flight, hotel, registration costs), I inevitably signed up for a job fair. I was offered an exciting position...so it all paid off. I'm happy.
Many recruiters continue to prefer face-to-face interviews in one location. Efficiency is they key. Recruitment is done in 2-3 days (without having one . wake up at 3 am to phone the other and then deal with waiting for second interviews). At least this is what a couple of recruiters told me personally. Come to think of it, I enjoyed meeting the recruiters "live." I don't believe I would have received the same connection over the phone or a video conference. That's my 2 cents...

Search Associates-Sally Gordon
Has anyone experienced the same problem? A colleague and I have the same associate, Sally Gordon. We feel that if you're a new teacher entering the international circuit, then she will bend over backwards to help you. However, when you contact her again for future fairs, she ignores you. We have sent numerous polite emails to her asking what to do, suggestions, etc. before re-registering. However, she doesn't respond. Is her kindness a cover? Unfortunately, you can't switch to another associate (supposedly). This is not the way to treat your "customers." I'm losing respect for Sally and Search.
