If you can be in country then that can help. Some schools will have something not work out or someone need to leave mid-year so they sometimes go for a local hire if timing is tight. I’ve seen some less experienced teachers get their foot in the door this way.
Also worth noting that some additional British schools plan to open in Japan in the coming years, such as Harrow and rugby. Could be competition for BST.

Re: COVID, 21/22 Job Season & You?
I’m wondering if we have passed the peak of the hiring season now? I know a lot of teachers who would have moved but decided to stay, from other accounts there are less job postings this year. Thoughts?

Re: TES Community forums are now gone
I’m not convinced pro boards will be a viable platform. The TES forums were often active due to people passing through the website for other reasons and stopping by the forums.
The natural successor is Reddit. The international teaching sub-Reddit has grown exponentially in the past half year. It has a lot of younger teachers on the platform due to the nature of Reddit but there has been some useful posts by experienced teachers too.
It’s Reddit and here for me.

How can you remain employable overseas?
Hello colleagues,
Does anyone have any advice on what teachers can do when working at an international school to ensure they are still attractive to schools back in the UK? Perhaps some sort of online course? Any advice is welcome! :-)
