Re: Brexit Implications on EU

Little or no effect whatsoever. It will take years to implement Brexit and when they do they'll probably keep a great deal of the free movement rules, but with the condition that you must have a job to go to and you won't be able to claim welfare benefits. Re: Teaching in Maldives

If it were $5000 a month I'd be flying there now! He reckoned $5000 a year!

Teaching in Maldives

Anybody have any experience of this? I only know people that have been there on vacation!

I've just been offered a job there out of the blue. It includes accommodation, but other than being told it will be on par with the salary for other foreign teachers I don't have any more information about how much that is. My friend reckons it could be on the low side ($5000), but I'm not too sure. I was hoping it would be nearer what's on offer somewhere like the Seychelles.

Am I likely to be able to support a family over there, or is it more of a hardship type position? It's also in the capital, so I have concerns about the availability of beer! (been told it's like Kuwait, apart from the holiday islands). Any help much appreciated.

International Supply Teachers (teachersonthemove)

I've seen this company mentioned a few times and wondered if anybody had any experiences with them?

I'm on the move this summer, but the wife and I have decided on a specific country (where she comes from) and although we are confident that something will come up (had two interviews already), we have been looking at a 'Plan B'.

My Plan B is to work from August-December somewhere that I can make some coin and then either try for schools in our chosen country again in the New Year, or just live on the money until the following summer when something will be available.

I'm a British teacher, so normally use sites like the TES and avoid the pay sites like Search or ISS, which seem more American oriented (I've also worked in IB schools). IST charge £35 to register, and I'm just wondering whether anybody has used them before and whether they felt it was worth it? The website looks very basic.

Re: UWC Schools and Armenia

Thanks for the responses. Sounds like a decent group of schools to work for. My biggest concern is having enough to do in my free time. I'm in my 30s and whilst I don't expect to be some sort of . animal in terms of the local nightlife, it does seem out of the way of everywhere.

Constantly checking my emails! I need to stop doing it and chill out a little.

UWC Schools and Armenia

Anybody have experience of any of these? I have seen a few jobs come up at their new place in Armenia, although I'm not sure what the package will be like (wondering if it will be similar to neighbouring countries like Azerbaijan). From what I have seen a lot of UWC places look impressive but seem to be out in the middle of nowhere.
