My husband and I accepted teaching positions with QSI in China. We have submitted all requested paperwork and are waiting on our visas, but haven't heard anything about a possible delay or problems.
I, like you, have read the comments about QSI, weighed my options and decided to go for it. This is our first international position so we are new to this, but we both have a significant amount of teaching experience and advanced degrees. However, with 3 children, options seemed limited. I do feel comfortable with QSI. They seem like a fair and honest organization and I feel the experience will be good. Our oldest will be off to college in a few years and I'm hoping we will have more options with some experience under our belts.

Koda-
My thoughts were either eastern Europe or Asia. I'm trying to be flexible, but some of the locations seem like they may be difficult for my children. I'm looking forward to meeting with the rep. next weekend. I, too, have decided to add some certifications. In order to gain middle school certification I only require one extra praxis so I have scheduled to take it in March.

When do schools start expressing interest?
My husband and I have responded to 10 -15 job openings over the past 2 months. Would you recommend follow-up e-mails? When should you expect a response when applying to international schools?

Wow! It's nice to know others are in the same situation with the same reservations. From what I understand after working with QSI for 2 years you are able to transfer to other locations before the hiring process begins, giving transfers first choice. After this process is completed (near the end of December) QSI begins placing new hires. I believe from my correspondence with QSI that you can consider several locations.
I also feel that the "interview" is more of a discussion of location, etc. I get the impression that if you have a scheduled interview you have a position with the company if you choose to take it. My husband and I interview in Atlanta on Jan. 29th. How about you? Please let me know how things work out and if you find any more helpful info.
Thanks!

QSI Help!
This will (hopefully) be our first placement abroad. In another post I was assured that it was quite easy to get a job with QSI, so my husband and I applied. The next day we received a call, our references were fully checked within a week, and we have an interview scheduled. I do have a good feeling so far about the company. The pay isn't great, but it's good. Our children were invited to interview with us and I have contacted a former employee. But, I have read some very negative reviews on this site that scare me a bit. I realize that school/placement highly affect job satisfaction with this company so my question is (Irealize this question has been posted before.)... What locations would you recommend? What locations would you stay away from? Thank you very much!
The distance your salary takes you is dependent on which QSI school you work at. We did manage to save money in Eastern Europe but times are changing and it might be harder now.
It sounds as if QSI has the same pay scale for all schools. Could you give me some idea of the pay scale?
