Re: HOW TO BLOCK POSTERS
Dear Paul, I would like to point out that I was banned for repeatedly asking for an explanation as to why Yatantether had been banned...and when my posts were continuously pulled I did give mention to the 'irony' of the behaviour of the admin (given the purpose of this site) but don't believe I was abusive in any way.
ADMIN RESPONSE: YES YOU WERE BANNED. WHY WOULD YOU THINK WE WOULD DISCUSS OUR DECISION TO BAN YATANTETHER WITH YOU? THINK ABOUT IT. HOW FAR WOULD YOU GET WITH ONE OF THE BIG RECRUITERS OR ANY SCHOOL IF YOU REPEATEDLY ASKED THEM TO SHARE SUCH INFORMATION WITH YOU ABOUT ANOTHER TEACHER? I THINK YOU KNOW THE ANSWER. PRIVACY LAWS PROHIBIT SUCH SHARING. YOU ARE CORRECT THAT YOU WERE NOT VERBALLY ABUSIVE, BUT YOUR REPEATED POSTS (WHICH WE CONTINUED TO REMOVE) REQUESTING US TO SHARE INFORMATION WITH YOU ABOUT ANOTHER POSTER RESULTED IN YOUR BAN, WHICH WAS TEMPORARY.
I HOPE THIS ANSWERS YOUR QUESTION TO YOUR SATISFACTION

SighGuy...you do not KNOW he is guilty. However, you do know that the court has found him guilty. This may surprise you but they are two different things.

Re: murder threat bully boss
lookingforlefty...I think the jobs you aspire to are not necessarily representative of the rest of us. Based upon previous comments that you have made on this forum I suspect that the references you leave with dictate the levels to which you have risen (or sunk).
As far as ezans is concerned, I think even SighGuy spotted him for a troll...which has a certain irony :-).

Re: Has Anyone Worked in Italy?
Dear joanveronica,
Feel free to ignore 99% of anything that SighGuy has to say (and I am being generous with the 99%). A tourist teacher is quite simply someone who doesn't plan to stick around for very long. Most of us make our decisions based upon the school AND are going for the adventure and a lifestyle. I am a teacher, and so this is of course how I plan to fund my lifestyle. I have indeed planned moves to get to 'a particular foreign country' and 'immersed' myself in that lifestyle...and stayed there for 8 years...and then moved to another country that I really wanted to experience and stayed there for 9 years. During that time I have invested a huge amount into the school and (I believe) left that school with both parties having benefited from our relationship.
Of course, if things had not worked out I would have shrugged and gone somewhere else...and would have been very happy had that been Hawaii :-).
I have not worked in Italy...but can vouch for TASIS and Lugano...it really is the best of both worlds, although is a boarding school and you may have to be prepared to take on boarding duties.

Re: UNI Fair Diary--Teaching Couple w/3 dependents
Dear lookingforlefty...you are quite clearly a plonker...and appear to struggle with reading. Congratulations Heimtun on securing BOTH your positions even if one of them is on a different track. Enjoy the move into the exciting world of international education :-).

Re: My opinion of the Bangkok job Un-fair
honeymustard...you had 10 job interviews in one weekend and you didn't find that to be good value for your money? You overheard a conversation between a principal and a headmaster and from this determine that the vast majority of them are condescending and arrogant...meanwhile, 'several' of the candidates are 'sychophants' and crack kissers...can you not see a bit of a pattern here? If you had 10 interviews and failed to get a job offer it could be time to look at what you are dong wrong...

Anybody who has ever tracked any of Higgs Bottom's posts will know the only thing he confuses is "rights" from "wrongs".

@higgsbosom...chicken and the egg...perhaps schools like Qatar Academy believe they can behave in this way because of teachers like you? You talk of 'trashy students' and yet openly admit that you are a trashy teacher, and one who appears to be somewhat lazy and entitled (if not rich).
I am not too sure how you can judge anyone else, when I think you are a big part of the problem...
Just to ensure that this post does not go too far off the topic, I do believe that it is possible to be supportive of Gurung (through Facebook, petitions etc) and still deal with the facts that we know...as opposed to making assumptions about what we don't know.
Fact = Gurung was arrested and needed to be released. I do believe that Qatar is impacted by the adverse publicity that this generated. If I was in Gurung's position I would certainly be comforted by the fact that there were people who were working to ensure that I did not just disappear off the radar.
