Re: Reported teacher shortage in the UK? If true, will it he

I'm currently teaching primary in the UK, and yes there is a teacher shortage in most of the schools in the vicinity. The government have changed pensions and workload and lots of teachers are leaving the profession. But what is happening is that schools are tending to use supply teachers and waiting to see if the teachers are good before offering them a permanent role.

Just to warn you, the workload is ridiculous, and there doesn't seem to be an end in sight.

Second interview - in person

Hi guys,

I've tried searching for results, but everytime I put in second interview it comes up with saying the search results are too common. I've tried about 20 combinations but still the same.

So, I thought I'd just start a fresh one.

I had a skype interview for a school two weeks ago and now I have a second interview in London where I'm meeting the founder of the school. Obviously very excited.

Any tips?

Cheers :)

Victoria Educational Organisation

Hi guys,

There are no reviews on here for this kindergarten group in Hong Kong.

Does anyone know if they are reputable?

They are with Search Associates so I suppose that must mean something right?

Cheers

Re: IB kindergarten experience

Thanks for the advice guys.
I'm still unsure whether to take it. My main aim is to teach abroad, but I don't want to do it prematurely and shoot myself in the foot.
The package is good - a generous salary plus housing, and with annual flights, so that is a plus.
I just have a feeling that if I could do one more year in the UK it would help me out so much.

Thanks

IB kindergarten experience

Hi guys?

I??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

???????????????????????????????????????????wonder whether it will affect my career in the future.

Do you think two years of teaching IB, PYP at a nursery level will still hold me in good stead for further international teaching along the primary range?

Split 2 year experience.

Hi everybody,

Just wanted to say how much I love the sight. It's great to see so many people helping each other out.

Anyway, to start, I've checked the forum for threads on experience needed to start international teaching, but my case is a little stranger. So here goes.

I am currently teaching at a primary school in London and this is my NQT year (1st year). Last year I completed my certification, but before that I was teaching in a low tier British international school in the Middle East. I also have TEFL experience from Thailand, but I know that doesn't count.

So, by the end of this year I will have two years experience.

Do you think it is wise to start applying for jobs around Christmas time? I'm going to avoid applying to Search as I feel uncomfortable asking for references so early on in the year, so will just go down the Skype route.

I don't mind where I work (preference for good weather, but not the Middle East again).
Do you think I have a viable chance? Money concerns me less than actually living abroad itself and getting two years of experience abroad. My hope is that I can work my way up to better schools in more desirable locations over time, with the option of returning to the UK or going to Australia because of my UK qualification.

I'm not married and I don't have kids, and more than anything, I love to travel and have an adventure.

What do you think is my best course of action? Should I start applying, or stick out one more year of cold and rain after this year?

Cheers
